Hi ladies, just wondered if anyone wants to hold hands as we go through a cycle?

After a failed fresh cycle earlier this year, I’m starting my progynova today with a planned FET for May.

Would love some company x

Ok, sorry, must have misunderstood you. But CRGH is on that list?

Report
AniSL · 30/05/2018 13:14

Thanks @rainylake, I was aware of that. I meant for CRGH

@AniSL you need to go here:
www.hfea.gov.uk/choose-a-clinic/clinic-search/
and then put in the area or postcode the clinic you're after is based in, and then if there is more than one option choose the one you want to look into.

Then scroll down and at the bottom of the box called "What is the clinic's IVF birth rate' there is a green button called 'view detailed statistics. That then lets you set the initial parameters for what data you want to look at (e.g. 'births over a 3 year period for IVF and ICSI combined for women aged 38-9 having a fresh cycle and using their own eggs' ). Then it takes you to a detailed table with lots of headings and graphs that gives you quite a lot of detail (e.g. pregnancies per cycle, live births per cycle, live births per embryo transfer, proportion of cycles cancelled before egg collection or embryo transfer and reasons for the cancellation). It gives you the actual figures as well as the percentages, and tracks it against the national average, and tells you whether any discrepancy is statistically significant. I've found it a really useful resource.

@rainylake I couldnt find these stats on HFEA or on clinic websites, perhaps I have missed something

Report
rainylake · 30/05/2018 12:23

@AniSL but can’t you get all that information from the HFEA website which compiles it for every registered UK clinic? So you can choose a clinic and see what percentage of cycles made it to egg collection, embryo transfer, or to a positive pregnancy test or a live birth, and change the stats according to age group or whether you want to look at fresh or frozen cycles. And then compare it with the national average. I definitely found out from there information about cycles started to embryos implanted for my clinic and spent quite a bit of time playing around with the different stats you can find out.

AniSL · 30/05/2018 12:13

@happyhedgehog247 thats interesting that none of the clinics publish data on actual cycles started to number of embryos implanted

20% is for 38+ by the way! It's obviously much better for younger.

Congrats @Ponypals on the bfp and @Ponypals on the whopping 14 eggs!!

I had CRGH consultation today. It was very interesting. I now understand why their success rate is 20%. Its a combination of:

  • batch cycling
  • PGS
  • more personalised tailoring of meds and closer monitoring

What they are doing through the first 2 is basically selecting better embryos which then means chances per transfer are higher.

The price list was also 'interesting' Grin

@Yorkshirelass27, sending you positive vibes for the two embies onboard. 🌟

@Si1ver I nearly fell off the chair when she said that number! Was not expecting anything like that! Just praying some are good quality. Very happy for today :)

@bangsaklove 14 is loads! You must be so pleased.

I know it’s quality not quantity but yes I’m happy And very suprised at that number. I know a few were “small” on Fridays scan so not sure what the morning will bring.
@yorkshirelass27 will keep everything crossed for you, we only get this one round and can’t afford another even abroad so hope I get to put two back in too :)
Time for a nap 😴 I think.

Congratulations 'ponypals' and 'Southernbella'
Well drone 'bangsaklove', great number collected. Hope you are feeling ok.
I had a call from the hospital to say unfortunately I don't have any to freeze. Obviously disappointed and just hope the two onboard behave

@bangsaklove 14 eggs is brilliant! Fingers crossed that lots of them fertilise. Hope the recovery isn't too bad, and do take lots of painkillers.

Mine doesn't include any scans or tests because of distance. It's a bit of a downside for cycling abroad I guess. I'm having a private scan at 7 weeks and then I'll be funnelled into the NHS system.

AniSL · 29/05/2018 15:01

@picklesandpetals I think every clinic advises differently on egg quality and Dr Google confuses matters more unfortunately.

My clinic explained that most of the egg development happens 90 days before ovulation, this is the point where you really have to step up your game. My clinic told me no to multis but yes to folic.

Through my own research I am going on the DHEA, Inositol, Melatonin, Ubiquinol and Maca. Lower carb, higher vegetable protein, full fat greek yoghurt daily and avocados too and off course 2 litres of clean water daily

rainylake · 29/05/2018 14:08

@SouthernBella74 wow your clinic is generous with the scans! I just get one at 6-7 weeks and then back into the regular NHS system if everything looks okay. I feel pretty normal other than progesterone-boobs but I didn’t have any symptoms really in the first trimester of my last pregnancy so I’m not too worried about that.

@SouthernBella congratulations

Thanks @Si1ver and @rainylake. I'm 6w4d today. Smile

I think I'll relax more after the next scan, which is in 2 weeks, but really only after 12weeks...I hope!

How are you ladies feeling?

I've been queasy for the past week or so and losing my appetite. My sense of smell has intensified, so can't take a lot of smells...including my OH breath at the moment! I've made him change his toothpaste! Grin

Congratulations @SouthernBella74, must be a huge relief to have it confirmed that everything is going well. Hopefully you can start to relax and enjoy it now!

@SouthernBella74 that's fantastic news! You must have been so pleased to see the heartbeat. How many weeks are you now?

@picklesandpetals, I’m sorry to hear about your result. 💐 This process can be quite sh*te!

@Happyhedgehog247, happy to hear that your review went well and you have a plan for your next cycle. I hope the learnings result in a positive result for you. 😊

@bangsaklove, I hope your EC went as well possible. 🌟

@PonyPals, congrats on your BFP. 🎉 Fingers crossed for a higher HCG on Friday.

I had my first scan this morning and saw the flickering heart beat! So, I guess I can now believe I’m pregnant - never mind I’ve taken 3 HPTs & had a blood test! 😬

All looks good and baby measuring well. So, slightly relieved and will now wait for the next scan.

Wondering what information you ladies might have been given about improving egg quality. Either from your own research, have you tried anything that you notice has improved the quality when you cycled again? Or any information from your clinics, what have they suggested? Want to try and do what I can now to improve my chances

@PonyPals congratulations on your bfp

@Ahoneybee Yes, same as you this was my first cycle. I'm thinking about trying a different clinic or going abroad next time.
