Stopping cyclogest at 8 weeks pregnant?

Hi ladies,

Just looking for experiences of stopping cyclogest before 12 weeks?

Fresh IVF cycle and we've just had a successful dating scan with 1 baby and heartbeat found. IVF nurse has advised us that I can completely stop taking the pessaries now.

I understand that they would not advise this if they thought it would have a negative outcome but as I've been taking 400mg twice a day I suddenly feel very nervous to stop!

Any reassurance is much appreciated xx

Clinic said fine to stop by 8w. But they say to clients 11-12w to reassure us

I went for longer as had been taking them for months due to failed fets

And weaned off slowly. Was on 800. Then did 200 am and pm. Then 100 am and pm

You can get off gp free if want any more

I'd definitely advise tapering down. It makes it much easier mentally. I was on 1000 taken across three doses a day. So I dropped the lunchtime one for a week, then the morning one, then the evening one. All the best with your pregnancy x

Thank you for your response!

I have enough at home to get me through to around 11 weeks if I need to.

The nurse did say if I felt particularly nervous I could use up another week or so but I feel like she was pandering to me more than anything!

I tapered down gradually between weeks 10-12. My clinic advise that it's essential in first 8 weeks, but they recommend until 12 weeks just to be sure. There's no harm for you to carry on a bit longer and taper down, it's less scary that way!
