UK Establishment Closes Ranks as Organised Child Sex Abuse Network Leads Back to No. 10

For decades, vulnerable children from care homes and other institutions were booked to order by rich and powerful men, for sex. This is the allegation put forward in ‘Nightmares at Elm Guest House’, in an interview with Chris Fay of the National Association for Young People in Care. As another significant member of the Conservative party is about to be outed this weekend, we take a closer look at these allegations and ask: how much longer can the UK establishment keep this story suppressed?

In response to a poster at the top of the thread re someone being questioned over rape of a 19yr old woman. There's a script they seem to follow... that abuse involving young women or teenage girls is more palatable than the truth that it was young boys. The BBC seemed to only mention that with Saville, and I think that is what is going on again. That or they use expenses/fraud or retiring/reshuffled out.

Lady Butler Sloss has stood down. Blimey. [http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/]]

This is the shocker for today and a suggestion in this article that Baroness Butler-Sloss may have a close family link to the problem. Surely Cameron cannot push ahead with her at the head of this enquiry, whoever heads it must be absolutely beyond reproach

Yes I agree, more should be sticking there neck out but I think it's fear that if they are too vocal and then and inquiry finds dirt that could be in any way linked to them, they're screwed.

I also agree with your fears that people will turn away to extremist parties.

I know, but they need to choose now which side of right or wrong to be.

Tom Watson, Simon Danczuk and Emily Thornberry have made their postion clear. So.....couldn't a few more of them?

I can see that from the Tory point of view, UKIP could really benefit from this, since they aren't in power and tick the "None of the above" box. That is, if voters are utterly sickened by the three main parties, UKIP could do well out of it.

I think Mrs it's because they know that if there was a full inquest that dug deep enough they would be implicated too. This isn't about one political party or even MPs in general it's a massive cultural conspiracy to dehuminise and silence victims. This includes MPs, The church, entertainers, scouting leaders etc etc. It's all part if the same thing.

I don't get why the Labour Party aren't hitting home with this. Emily Thornberry was excellent about it on The Daily Politics.

more media criticism of the Butler-Sloss appointment

[[http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/uk/article4145685.ece The retired judge leading the Westminster child abuse inquiry kept allegations about a bishop out of a report on a paedophile scandal because she “cared about the Church”, The Times can disclose.
Baroness Butler-Sloss told a victim of alleged abuse that she did not want the claims to be in the public domain because “the press would love a bishop”.
The revelations led to fresh calls yesterday for the peer to step down as chairwoman of the new inquiry]]

The BBC are reporting that the Home office have failed to provide the file names as requested.

Is anyone going to be surprised?

This is just the beginning and makes you wonder if the secret investigator didnt spend a year looking for these files but spent the year destroying them especially as they wont name him/her Hmm

Its all a bit neat and tidy for those accused of wrong doing.

Ginfox, you are right, and also it's a really horrible subject to let your mind rest on. Like forcing yourself to stare into the face of evil. Sad

This is a very dispiriting but fascinating article on the BBC news site about sexual abuse of young boys in schools/children's homes being ignored/condoned in earlier decades. Apparently it draws on research for a Panorama programme last year, which I didn't see.

Damn I think people are squeamish about the subject and don't want to discuss it for fear of upsetting others. My DH has been like this about any child abuse related discussion since DD1 was born. It takes on a whole new meaning when you have kids of your own.

But it has to be discussed - and frankly - if anything is going to change for the better.

I was talking to my oh half last night and started to tell him about it and his response 'I don't want to know about it'
I suppose that's the problem, plenty of people don't want to know, and if we all pretend it's not / didn't happen then everything will be 'fine'
