I saw it on the BBC news website. Am astounded.
Like a lot of people, I grew up with NTNON.
Sad day.
RIP Mel.

Poor man. I was just thinking about him the other day as Gryff-Rhys Jones was on would I lie to you? and he looked brilliant.

The stout debate episode was on Gold a couple of nights ago. As funny as ever.

I was singing along to 'we like trucking' just a couple of nights ago. poor Mel.Sad He always was the 'chubby' one though, remember the Stout Debate sketch where he was wearing the 'proud to be stout' t shirt? Although I did see him in Hairspray a few years ago and he certainly looked fit then with all the dancing about.
So many fond memories, and such a shame. RIP Mel.

I was shocked to see this today, Not The 9 O'Clock News is my favourite sketch show of all time, I used to video it and watch it over and over. I can quote it endlessly. A sad loss.

Apparently he has been ill for some time according to....er....someone. Think it was GRJ.

He said that for Mel it was probably a release.

I so often quote sketches from 'Not the Nine O'clock News' as I meander through life.
Very sad news - great loss to entertainment. RiP Mel Sad

I was just watching Not the 9 O'clock news last night, and talking to H about how that was my formative comedy, I loved it in my teens and still remember loads of the sketches now. Sad How very sad that he has died.

Very sad. We lost my dad at a similar age a few years ago from a heart attack. I remember watching Alas Smith and Jones as a teenager with my dad and it being one of his favourites. The news just made me shed a little a tear for Mel's family and my own Sad

Ooh. Have reported as tech issue, cheers.
I am really sad about this. Grew up with Alas Smith & Jones and was only recently watching NtNocN.
