Before I go to bed, I've just taken a look at the Wednesday thread. I had it on the Threads I'm On list. This may be useful or maybe not but I'll post quickly and briefly.

scatty As well as the Travelodge (they've a sale coming up soon too - I think on Thursday this week), try local Youth Hostels (may be unsuitable if your children are quite young and you don't like sleeping on top bunks, though) and also some hotel chains who do discounts, special offers and late cheaper bookings (apparently, after 5.05pm is the time for that night's stay to be at a cheaper rate). We've stayed at a De vere hotel. Be warned, the webpage is DREADFUL. So annoying trying to check availability for the dates and rooms you want but worth it for the cheapest deals (£10 per room per night - not including breakfast). Been there too with ds and school. E-mail me (CAT, I mean or I can CAT you) if you want. Ds is now Year 10 and is much improved. He's almost finished reading a Chris Ryan (I think it is) book he got out on Saturday. A bit naughty seeing as he's doing some GCSEs early and so it's exam time, but there you go.

galen I enjoyed reading the item (hubpage?) you'd written. It's a nice record of the holiday, I must say and written in an entertaining way, too.

Not sure if I wanted to write anything to anyone else. Think yourself lucky to get away scotfree, the rest of the FLYers!

Time for bed. Amser i gwely.

and everyone else who knows me. Hey, I'm a bit envious of this "roles in the home" thing! Dh (bless him) is not a natural in the home if it comes to cleaning or routine tidying up. He is, however, very good at bills, renewals of insurance and the like, getting the best deal on things and maintenance stuff. He is also an OHIO (only handle it once) person when it comes to post and paperwork so I admire him for that as I am rather slack in comparison.

Not done:-
~ post birthday cards
~ clear ironing pile (was helping dh with something instead and then walked the dog with dh)
~ e-mail replies
~ Welsh class homework (nothing new there!)

I'll carry these over to tomorrow. I should, hopefully be home from work early to mid afternoon and can do them then. Time for bed. Nos da pawb! Good night all.

P.S. I hope you're all taking note of these phrases. I may test you on them one day!

Hello all. Just popping on before I go to bed.
Dp finishes nights in the morning, so I should be back on track and can get cracking again tomorrow.
I'm already neding to change my new routines a bit, but imagine that'll happen quite often while the boys are so young.
See you all tomorrow

wolf gosh sounds a rough night for you all. Could be night terrors - where they half wake and scream/shout/ thrash about etc..DD4 used to get these a lot, worse when they're over tired. Also dd seems prone to wking up crying on and off in the night if she has had any sort of stress during the day - even excitement can set her off. Hope tonight is calmer
swan will have to investigate soothig proprties of mud! We have plenty of it here due torrential rain all afternoon!
prof wow well done you on being so organised...would like to do the same but I cant think that far ahead yet!
star have done half of paasports forms - thanks for kick up bum!

Things quite calm this evening...school pick up done.
rounders club pick up done.
Dinner - omlette, jacket spuds and sald - quick and easy lol
Ds to scouts - and back home again once we remembered scouts was cancelled tonight!
House not too bad...
I'm shattered so early night here

see you al ltomorrow

Sympathies from me too Wolf.

Prof - well done on the forward planning.

swan - lol at homework on choices.

star - bad luck about the nursery!

Done

laundry
1/2 ironing

the rest can wait.

Do you think he's crying in his sleep or is he wide awake when you go to him?
Sometimes if they are having a nightmare and you wake them up to comfort them it is very disruptive for them, although it seems counterintuitive not to comfort them.

There's a book about these matters which has been around for a long time by Dr Ferber - have you ever looked at it (or thrown it in bin perhaps?)

I remember dd used to be like that as a baby, hysterical in middle of night because she was so tired.

Anyway, sympathy.

Wolf How old is Ds? What a nightmare for you!
raining here too! DS said he loves thunder & lighting but wouldn't shop chatting and moving to hear it or see it
DH home and sing Waltzing Matilda with ds ha! ha! while giving him a bath. Told DH about my admin error. He was very kind and supportive. Told me not to pay the extra!
I knew he was worth the wait.
Tea, I ate with ds done
While DH eats dinner I'll clean the chairs & mop the floor.

Tort Shame you don't live near Tooting, I'm going to get ds uniform there very, very cheap shops & good quality.
Prof love the label maker I do need containers as well so might invest in one of those. Have a good evening ladies oh!

swan I think it's possible, plus being too hot and so damn tired he didn't know what to do with himself. Poor kid was so frantic I actually considered phoning an ambulance in case there was something seriously wrong with him

Torrential hail and rain. I have dashed out and quickly washed car, hurrah! hopefully next storm will rinse it. Plenty of birds here too too many ornamental cherries in this street.

Kids in very calm mood, mud has been underestimated as a brain coolant.
supper eaten by dcs pasta and leftover cass.
Dropped ds1 at Cubs, he has even done his homework, which was all about CHOICES, no mention of luck anywhere, or even providence.

Still to do
curtains
menuplanning
gas bill pay
pick up ds1
make supper (broccoli and anchovy pasta for grownups)
put dcs to bed at some point [sigh] like now

Buzz That's a glass half empty joke! But I've got to admit most of my bad luck is of my own making Oh! except DS not getting the primary school we wanted!
Having a quick cuppa before making tea. Steamed fish instead of frozen fish cakes.
Hi porkypoo I like the 27 fling boogie has it isn't a mammoth task then.
Shopping done I popped to the shops while ds playing with friends at my mates house. I did a bit of shopping for her too! Team work!

Kids have been to park
And now played in paddling pool, which would have been nice, except garden is now flooded everyone covered in mud. I think it is too small an area for gladiatorial combat.
Really not much point in mopping floors or cleaning baths...

Well done on uniform TPT, unfortunately I find if I buy it too far in advance it disappears into some godforsaken pile.

Hello Laura
Hello Porky

The mud wrestlers are upstairs, playing some elaborate game.
I think it is pj time already.

I'm sitting here with a dunce's hat on having read through about half the thread before realising that some posts weren't referring to the w/e thread but earlier in this thread as I was reading it back to front!

Hello to all.

Done:-
~ work (and worked extra hour or so as I had something to finish)
~ put fuel in car and put car through carwash. Living next to the sea is a pain with so many seagulls around and it's still not clean so I'll have to do it by hand. Blinking birds!
~ booked a provisional appointment
~ did full food shop
~ picked up dd and her friend
~ had coffee and lunch (just now - whoops!)

To do:-
~ book another appointment
~ write and post a couple of cards
~ finish making tea
~ clear ironing pile (nearly there!)
~ reply to about 5 e-mails that have been in my inbox for weeks!

Silly thought for the week. This was on the tv the other day and it made me smile.

First person:- Any luck?
Second person:- Yes. Lots of it and all of it bad!

I do worry about myself sometimes!

TheProfiteroleThief Do you do that "Donate a M and S item amongst other items to Oxfam and get a voucher (£5?) of a spend to a certain value (£30?). That would help with school uniform costs if you're able to use them online and if you're allowed to combine the voucher with a 3 for 2 offer. I tend to donate to Barnardoes but I think I'll do Oxfam for a while and see if I can get a few vouchers as we buy a lot from M and S.

Btw, my current nickname doesn't display fully. It is: ABuzzardAndACowCalledTalent. It's a bit long and I think I'm going to change it.

Hi Everyone

I am a new flyer! Baby steps are going well.

I am trying to help the kids to fly too. But some motivation techniques for a 12 yr old DS would be helpful. I have divided his room into zones and we have just tackled Zone 3, but with a bit of fuss!!

Looking forward to my first 27 fling boogie in a little while......

dips a toe in...Is the water warm??

Hello, hello each and everyone of you fantastic FLyers.

Just when I thought I'd got myself into the start of a nice little routine, I've self sabotaged by slacking in fits and starts.
at mysefl and as I was rattling on about how in control I was beginning to feel to friends!!!

Trying to remember how long this can take to really 'bed in' and not be too hard on myself. But I'm faced with disaster zones which I intend to put right today. Gotta get a handle on this.

Hope you don't mind me trying to rejoin you when I've pitifully neglected the whole kit and kaboodle?

L.
