Do you ventilate your bedroom every morning?

Recently I've found my bedding to be damp and I'm pretty sure it's because of lack of ventilation. Should I open my windows to air the room even if it's cold outside? Also would you recommend the use of a dehumidifier as we get a lot of condensation.
Thanks

Bedroom window is left open all day when we are out at work & school and closed when we arrive home. I've a great heating system so even on a really cold day it heats up quickly. Kitchen window gets opened anytime we are cooking

I live in a ground floor flat on quite a busy road so don't like to open my windows properly but I do open them slightly so that they're still locked but open an inch or two, I leave them like this for most of the day if I'm at home unless it is exceptionally cold

Windows/ doors should be opened for at least 10 minutes a day summer and winter to allow air to circulate through the house .Leaving windows on tilt all day or night will only cause the walls of the house to get cold and therefore cause more problems with damp and mould. As Frostnixon stated above it is written into all rental agreements in Germany and if mould appears in a house the tenant will be deemed responsible. It does work though.

They're in your house too. You just don't notice them Grin

I have a large house with 3 floors. Litter scooped multiple times a day. The air circulates nicely. No smells thank you very much. Sorry about the odours of bad breath and fart smells in your house.

I never open the windows, it's too cold and I have indoor cats.

So you just breathe in stale air peppered with cat poo all the time? Envy

I've never understood how anyone doesn't automatically open their windows when they get up! If only to get rid of the stuffy sleepy bad breath fart smell! My windows are open all day long and at night if it's not too cold.

Even if it's below zero, I have all the windows open for at the very least a couple of hours in the daytime, if I'm home.

If I'm working, just the bathroom ones in winter, as I leave at 6.45-7.15, but most days, all the windows are open between 11 and 3 in colder weather, and all day in warmer weather. In fact, my bathroom windows are open permanently between May and September, unless we're away.

I do tend to open windows for a bit of fresh air most mornings

I open windows in bedroom every morning for at least an hour and regularly have the back door open too. Also living room open for a while of a day and bathroom after showers. In summer they are open constantly.

YES! I do and have been religious about this for the past few years.

Apparently in German if you rent a property this rule is in the agreement - every window open for 10mins a day.

Make a big difference. Especially during winter.

big room and cold house so windows shut at night - but opened in the morning once the heating has gone off, and condensation wiped off.

leave open about 10 mins if a cold day (more if a nice day or not going out), duvet thrown back to air bed.

I never open the windows, it's too cold and I have indoor cats. Don't have a condensation problem.

Definitely, can't bear that closed in smell. In Winter I have the windows open a crack all night then wider during the day. Close it all but the crack when I finish work.

I also forcibly air my teenagers' rooms, much to their horror :).

In Summer windows are open 3-4 inches 24 hours a day.

I pull the bedding back and open the window first thing in the morning, then after about 20 mins I close the window and make the bed. Once we've all have showers, I open the bathroom windows too to air through.

(I have the Meaco DD8L, BTW, and it seems to work very well.)

Yes DH opens the window after his shower and I shut it after mine. This is an evolved system (he's a hot person I'm a cold one) rather than planned but it works...

I don't but we have an old house and some of the windows have single glazing still so they are not airtight.

I leave the window open all night in summer & during the day in winter. No heating in the bedroom. And the door must be wide open!

I open all upstairs windows about 2" every morning no matter how cold. Also keep the heating on if feeling particularly damp and have few of these in the bedroom.

I found this site helpful: www.dehumidifier-reviews.co.uk

In particular, it claims desiccant dehumidifiers are likely to be more efficient than refrigerant dehumids when the temperature is below 20° C.

Dehumidifier have been mentioned,so can anyone recommend a decent make and model ?

I can't bloody reach the windows that open in our new bedroom. Angry We do run a dehumidifier though, and its disturbing how much water it sucks up!
