steam mops, I know, but I need help!

so after seeing one in action (Lauriefairycake) I really think I need one, but then I go read reviews and cant make up my mind.

I have all wooden floors downstairs, 2 large dogs, tiles in kitchen, bathrooms and fully tiled upstairs bathroom.

I need a mop that isnt too heavy, cleans well, doesnt leave my wooden floors wet, is hardcore and wont break after 5 minutes. I also want it to clean my windows, bathroom glass and tiles too.

So, lets have your recommendations and reasons behind.

Wink That is about the only Valentine present this household is likely to get.

Does it create much condensation though? My house already suffers from it, so i would not want to add to the problem.

maybe your house would like a steam mop as its Valentine pressie. Grin

I do really like it.

I had never considered buying a steam mop but the various threads on MN are now swaying me towards one. Not quite sure where I would store it though.

For anybody who might be tempted to get one, Lidl is selling a steam mop as part of their Special Offers on 14 February. Here it is www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/index_38924.htm - it costs just under £30.

So the X7 has arrived! Although my back is buggered I have done a few bits with DH help to hold the hand held part and I cleaned the downstairs windows, the frames and used the little jet part to clean the nooks and crannies of the window frame.

Also did the radiators near where the dogs beds lie, have a few tiles in the bathroom, used it to clean the floor in bathroom and kitchen, but I dont think I will use it on the wooden floors as they are oiled, so not entirely sure if that makes them 'sealed' or not and pretty sure DH would be less than thrilled if I warped the Oak!

Overall it is an absolute gem of an item. Havent used the brass brush (for car wheels and the like) but have used everything else - apart from garment steamer, but that will come in handy to freshen up DH suits inbetween dry cleaning.

I love it. I only wish my back was better and then I would be steaming everything in sight!

hellyd mine doesn't (a Bionaire) - there's a tiny bit of steam around the pad, enough to clean the floor but not enough to make anything else damp!

This morning, at 5am I purchased a steam mop! Grin

DC have had chest infections and were coughing, which woke me up, so I had a quick check of emails and got a wowcher deal for the X7 mop. So, in my sleepy haze I bought it. Will let you know how it is once I get it and use it.

Mercibucket - it's fantastic. The only prob is I just can't schedule the time to use it often enough! I get carried away and like to have a good couple of hours to do a proper deep clean. It's addictive.

I just used my new Morphy Richards 2-in-one last night for the first time. I have spent all day today wondering what else I can blast tonight... Only used the mop, not the detachable handheld, but it did a great job on our seriously challenging kitchen floor (3yo and 10mo DC).

If you don't buy from Thane or Robert Dyas it's fake.

That's why reviews are poor.

Buy from Thane or RD and pay £99.99. See reviews on Thane, they rave about it.

X5 is available on Amazon - thought I might get one but the reviews of the product are poor, though everyone on here loves it.

I was watching some shopping channel at 2am this morning (don't ask!) and was fascinated by the X5. It said you could also get it at Robert Dyas.

It's great. Does all floors inc carpet. Attachments for Windows, grout, window blinds etc.

I find it really good.

I bought mine from internet.

Mine doesn't get the floor too wet.

X5!!

I love mine. I didn't open it for a fortnight as I tend to go berserk with things like this and true to form when I did open it I was in my bathroom for hours!! It's addictive. And empowering when you hold that big hot, erm, steam jet in your hands and blast away dirt. It's amazing.

I've only used it once, albeit in one long satisfying session, As I then got the bloody norovirus and still don't feel 100%. Like I said I need to know I've got a whole uninterrupted day with my toy when I next use it.
