Is this possible/would it look ok ?

I love Ikea Hemnes furniture, it is in our spare room and DD's room in white. I love the brown/grey colour however they do not do this in that colour and we have cream glass and oak sliding wardrobes.
I was thinking of getting the white (again,) two of these and the large 8 drawer chest and replacing the tops with some sort of oak vaneer. It would then match in with the wardrobes and would gives the painted look. DH has a friend who is a chippy and may be able to replicate the tops in some way.
Do you think this would look OK and is feasible ?
We currently have Ikea Malm in oak but we are changing the decoration at the moment and the handle less style will look a bit odd.

Thanks Mis that actually looks quite nice, like the knobs rather than the handles. Warming to the idea, would have me a bit of money too. Off to google more images Grin.

Good idea Mis. Not sure they are the right shape though as they don't have legs but something to think about. Maybe round chrome knobs !

Could you not just drill some holes in the malm drawers and try some handles on them? If it doesn't work, nothing lost.
