national Trust Cottages - the ones you recommend

Any that come highly recommended? I'm trying to find that great counry cottage for a famiuly w/e away and have just got national Trust brochure. They all look nice but I'm lookingg for really, really special. (Gran's 90th. )Any help appreciated.

we went with Hoseasons - and if you go for the 4 stars ie top of the range they are fabulous - especially the ones where they started with a farmhouse and have subsequently done up the barns/stables etc.

Emmaij, I am SO sorry. I was meant to check for my IoW cottages for you and this new thread reminded me. The one we stayed in three times, at Mottistone, is no longer rented out - the parents retired and the son and dil have packed in self-catering. That would have been big enough - the cottages we stayed in at Alverstone (between Sandown and Lake, not the best part of the island) and Freshwater only slept four and as they were Victorian farm cottages both had STEEP stairs and downstairs bathrooms, not ideal for gran.
My sister has done loads of Landmarks and has loved all of them. It is the sort of operation where you can ring up and they will advise which is best for a mixed party including elderly and the very young. But as she usually travels as a romantic duo or a bunch of trendy media types she hadn't the faintest idea which to recommend personally...

The landmark trust have some very special buildings, which are let as holiday cottages.
Unfortunately most of the details aren't on the website, but there are pictures of some of them here .
