Mark Warner Holidays

Hi

We are wondering where to go for our summer holiday this year with a 2.9 yr old and a 3 or 4 month old. Have heard mixed reports about Mark Warner, some people have raved about it whereas others say it is a glorified Butlins and too basic and food is poor. Any opinions, either for or against? Advice on the different locations would also be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Anto

Thanks so much for your feedback, everyone. Sounds like Mark Warner have got lots of loyal fans, which is very positive! I've ordered a Sunsail brochure today, Bugsy, so will be interested to see what it looks like. Am very interested in visiting Croatia and notice from their website that they have a new watersports club there, so that might be good.

A friend recommended a company called ERNA LOW that primarily specializes in skiing but also does summer holiday 'villages' in France and Sardinia. Anyone know anything about them? I've ordered the brochure anyway.

Anto, having been on a number of Mark Warners, I would suggest you try Sunsail if you are looking for that kind of holiday. From a childcare perspective, Sunsail take your children all day (whereas Mark Warner return them for two hours at lunchtime). I think that the Sunsail food is better and the accommodation better (but those will obviously vary from resort to resort). You don't have to go near a boat, if that is not your thing.
We thought the childcare was superb (so did our ds who was 2.11 at the time and dd seemed content - 5 months).

We went to San Luciano when ds was 5m. The childcare and watersports were fantastic, the food was fine (a good mixture of "adult" and "kid" stuff at breakfast and lunch). My main gripe was that as we were there towards the end of the season it was getting a bit run down eg hotel carpets were grubby, and most of the teapots had lost their lids. Very middle class England abroad - you wouldn't know that you were in Corsica and only one member of staff could speak any French. However we're going again this year as you can't beat the childcare!

Me too, been to MW Paleros twice now and going for two weeks in July. Absolutely brilliant. The food is great too. I also went on Mark Warner about 10 years ago pre children and the food has changed enormously since then, it was very basic then, but has changed beyond recognition since then - buffets every lunch and night with huge choice (I'm very fussy too)
