American Adventure or Gullivers Kingdom?

Any thoughts on the above...what will suit my Ds age 2 and 4 best? Staying in Notts for a few days in April. Any others ideas to keep my little ones amused? Is Eureka in Halifax worth a visit? Cadbury's world?? Chatsworth House I believe has a fantastic adventure playground..can anyone fill me in how good it really is? Thank you!

last time we went to american adventure which was last year it seemed a bit run down, gulivers is nice and all the rides are suitable for kids, matlock is nice too, whereabouts you staying and i will give it some thought

We are actually staying at CP Sherwood Forest but my DH gets cabin fever in the forest for 4 days ..or at least he did at Oasis and needs to see a bit of the surrounding are!! Is Eureka worth a visit on the way down?...travelling from bonnie scotland. Thanks for filling me in about AA. will avoid. What does Matlock have to offer? Should really buy a guide book!

Highly recommend Chatsworth Adventure Playground and farm area, you pay to get in both together and if the weather is fine, you need go no further! (although if you want to spend lots of money on nice food, there is always Chatsworth Farm shop in pilsley!)
Other things to keep you entertained as mentioned below Matlock is very nice, inland seaside! Gullivers is great for the younger kids, agree with the bit about missing American Adventure, unless your desperate...Bakewell is nice for a look around, you can feed the ducks!
Scarthyn Books (If your into books scarthyn books.co.uk I think if ya wana look at the website) at Cromford is worth a look, they have a kiddy room complete with toys and books to mess about with, and a cafe too!
Carsington Water is nice on a good day too for walks, food, water activities...
I see someones already listed the better days out site, so think that should cover it! If the weather gets really grotty and you wana shop, if you don't do Nottm, there is always Meadowhall at sheff, with a creche for the kids, or alternativly they have a 'little tykes' area, where you can pay for them to run off steam for a bit.

For that age group and your location I would definitely reccommend a day at Sundown. My 2 year old loves it. And there is plenty for them to do running about etc. Think it is about £6.50 per person aged over 2. The rides are very gentle - no roller coasters here - but there are also lots of play areas, sand, houses to explore.... great fun!

One last thing...any thoughts on Eureka in Halifax?

Eureka would be ok for your children's ages, although some things may be more suited to your 4 year old.
I understand that they've just completed a renovation project to update some parts of the museum.
Plenty of interactive things and a good place to go if the weather's not too good

Eureka is fab - my boys enjoyed it immensely aged 3, 4, and 6. Everything is hands-on: they would jump at the chance to go again! And I think the plans are to provide more activities suitable for littlies. It does get very busy in school holidays though - when in April are you visiting?

Another vote for Chatsworth Adventure Playground and Farm Park - great for running off some energy.

Thanks roisin and lmb..planning to visit 11th April..it's the spring break in Scotland but I think the english schools differ and are off later. Will def go though..I love these sort of places too!

Winniewoo - English schools vary their holidays according to LEA, but most are starting back on 11 April, so it might be a quieter day at Eureka: with no school visits, and not so many tourists either.

I start back at school on the 4th April. Easter is end of March this year, so many schools want be on holidays.

Eureka is fab. Not been for 3 or 4 years, and can't wait for DD to be a bit older so we can take her.
