We had to rebook from winter. Disappointed we won't see the northern lights but I'm sure there will be lots of other things to do!! Any recommendations? 😊

Go to Husavik for whale watching and the amazing Geo Sea thermal baths!

Go in coach trips, the Blue Lagoon, see the volcanoes, Black Beach, it’s absolutely amazing, but expensive !

We did Iceland in February which was beautiful but I’d love to go in spring and summer. I want to see the midnight sun

We hired a car and drove round the whole country 26 years ago and it was fine. Having watched some recent TV programs it appears that many (most?) of the roads are tarmacked now so I don't think you will have any problems!

I went in May several years ago. Hired a car and drove around the whole island. Was mostly easy but roads very narrow with a steep drop on some of the coastal stretches. Not much traffic so that makes it easier. We had really bad weather and the whale watching boats couldn't go out which was disappointing. Jökulsárlón lagoon was beautiful. The boat tour of the lagoon was a highlight of the trip.

We found it really easy to drive. DH had never driven abroad before and it was no problem at all, the roads were pretty good 😊

Thanks for the responses!

How difficult is it to drive around Iceland?

Whale watching. Second hiring a car - you'll have daylight nearly 24hrs so you can make the most of that. There are other places lagoons to visit as well as the Blue Lagoon around the island.

Hire a car and do the golden circle! There are coach trips you can go on but I definitely recommend your own car. We left earlier than most coach trips so we're pretty much always a stop ahead of the big groups
