I'd like to return to Brac in Croatia for a week or two this summer. I've spent a day in Bol at the Golden Horn, but I'm wondering where might be a good place to look for accommodation. I would appreciate some pointers. It will be myself, DH, and two teenagers, so ideally not something too remote.

I don’t remember it being particularly windy. That stretch of coast can be windy and hence why the kite surfers and windsurfers love it but on the beach in both June and Sept it was fine. At Zlatni Rat on one side it’s windy and the other side is completely calm.
there is plenty of shade to be had on all the beaches from the town through to Zlatni Rat. We stayed at the Borak hotel and although it is 3 star and nothing fancy, the location is perfect in my opinion.

Hi, we are looking at accommodation near the Monastery beach - is it sheltered? I have read that the Bol coast can be windy but maybe that’s just the Golden Horn? Thanks :)

@firesandrivers So sorry for the massively delayed response. It completely slipped my mind. We would definitely stay closer to the Monastery when we go back. Just a gorgeous stretch of beach, and a little more scenic. And the kayak people have lots for the teens to do. It's a bit more exciting, if you know what I mean.
Regarding food, there's a tiny bakery right opposite the taxi rank. We were there practically every morning for pastries and sandwiches.
There's also a lovely pizzeria if you're walking from the Monastery into the town. There's a little supermarket in the middle of town too.

Oh and if it's not too cheeky, please let me know any top tips you might have for supermarkets, eating out
Etc!

We LOVED Bol. It has a lovely atmosphere and the walkway from the town to Zlatni Rat is beautiful. We went in June and then again in September and June was much busier. There are a lot of water based activities for teenagers, watersports and inflatables etc. you can hire bikes and electric scooters etc. At Zlatni Rat there are some cool beach bars with beanbags etc. We went to Supetar and it’s lovely too but Bol is definitely busier with more going on for teens in my opinion. You can book boat trips too.

Great, sounds perfect!

Hi! Yes we certainly did go back in 2022, and loved it. My teens loved lazy days and afternoons by the sea. We hired a boat for a day to explore other parts of Brac, but liked staying in Bol. The Golden Horn is gorgeous but very busy. We found ourselves spending lots more time at the beach near the Monastery. We hired paddle boards, kayaks etc, even did a glow kayak ride at night. I would go back any day!

Oh great! I wondered if you'd respond with it being a year ago!
I've booked a place which is nearer the monastery beach actually.
We have a five nights in Split then five in Bol. Can't wait!

Hello -just seen your post. Please could you let me know what you thought of Bol - are are booked to go to Brac in July and currently trying to decide between Bol or Supetar. Many thanks

Hi, we went to Bol just for one day a few years ago.
In terms of beach experience, we really loved Bol. Zlatni Rat is out of this world, and despite it being rated as one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe and the world, it's not over commercialised or crazy busy--there's a sleepiness to the whole area.
We have decided to go back in July for ten days, and have booked an apartment near the centre. I've been told it's a good spot to walk to a number of beaches, close to shops, etc, and walking distance to the jetty so we can explore other islands too.

A friend who lives there said Bol is a great place for nature walks and adventure activities for the teenagers, so I just booked it, and hoping it's what I remember and more!

I loved Supertar, lovely restaurants clustered around a harbour and then keep walking and there is swimming off the rocks and then a lovely beach backed with pine trees.
