Is Porto expensive?

We paid 220 euros per night for a place in Easter. We thought it had at least one proper bedroom but it is basically a studio with a made a room/box in the middle an another bed in the living room. It is not even in the center or Porto and we feel robbed.

We paid similar in Lisbon but it was a proper apartment with 2 ensuits an an amazing view of the river and 2 floors, an great location

Trying to make the most of it but can’t help feeling disappointed when we are in the apartment on top of each other for that price

Surely the studio is just a base to explore the lovely city.

The accommodation is nice enough.

It's great to be by the beach, you accidentally made a good choice Grin Take advantage of being able to have both a beach and city break. It looks like the weather will be sunny on Saturday, perfect for a leisurely lunch at one of the restaurants on the beach. The Praia de Luz restaurant is nice (they have a DJ in the evenings).

I suggest doing your homework and planning your visit in advance though as it is Easter and some places might be closed.

Have a great time!

Be sure to go over the river to Alfurada for lunch, the best fish over there, and checkout the communal laundry. There used to be a ferry went across but I was there a few days ago and it hasn't appeared since covid. Worth getting an uber Smile

@Holidays27

Thank you. We normally book early but I started a new job and was so busy we only booked a month in advance; you live and learn.

Yep, unfortunately there seems to be lots of people who book a ridiculous amount of time in advance (who are these people who have such predictable stable lives?!!) which makes it harder - and more expensive - for those of us who can't plan that far ahead due to matters out of our control.

Despite all this, enjoy Porto!!! I can recommend a great shop for wool accessories (bags, scarves etc) called Burel Mountain Equipment (don't be put off by the name). Super-chic and stylish! I spent a lot of time in there. Lovely staff too. Wink

I've always found Porto to be really good value, verging on cheap. But if you leave it to the last minute, plus add in 2 years of pent-up demand, the amazing but great value places will be long gone.

Thank you. I guess we booked in a rush as we were both so busy.

Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow.

I just feel so disappointed we paid so much for this. Maybe it is our fault for not reading properly.

It's not more expensive than Lisbon. Maybe the price is higher because it is Easter?

TBF, it is quite clear on the booking page from the photos and description that it is a loft style 1 bedroom apartment with a 2nd bed in the living area. It seems to be more of an aparthotel than an actual appartment.

It's in a great spot by the beach and a nice walk along the river to the old town or a quick hop on public transport. I've always stayed by the beach when I've been to Porto, on the recommendation of a friend who is local. You'll have a great time.

It is called Flattered to be in Porto if anyone come across it. We are not flattered at all.
