Easyjet baby hand luggage

We will be flying with Easyjet for the first time since they changed their hand luggage policy and pricing.
My youngest will be travelling as a 'lap infant'. Can anyone who has flown with Easyjet recently confirm if I am allowed a small piece of hand luggage for me plus a nappy bag OR just the small piece of hand luggage? We are checking in luggage so haven't paid for the larger hand luggage allowance. Thanks in advance.

It’s right there on their website:

“If you’re travelling with an infant who will be seated on your lap, only an additional baby changing bag is allowed for the infant (max. 45 x 36 x 20 cm) and this must be placed under the seat in front of you.”

You can also take the 2 free items, like a pram / travel cot etc

Yes, I read that. I just wasn't sure of it was my own bag plus the additional baby changing bag since the dimensions given for each are the same. Has been a while since we travelled and I'm just being overly cautious.

All customers with a booked seat are allowed a small cabin bag of 45x36x20 regardless of hold luggage.
The bit where they have complicated matters is that a baby on lap does not have this cabin bag allowance, but then goes on to say that they have a changing bag allowance of 45x36x20 (exactly the same size) instead.
Essentially, I think they mean that everyone on board is allowed a bag of that size as hand luggage?!

I’ve just noticed that you can take a ‘landscape’ changing bag but not a ‘portrait’ changing bag Grin

Yes, this was what was confusing me. Why say the baby can't take small hand luggage but can take a changing bag that is the same size. Doesn't make sense. We have flown now and in the end I managed to get everything into one small bag rather than risk it.

To further complicate matters, according to their website they allow a standard size trunki as hand luggage (despite the size discrepancy) so I have messaged easyJet asking if a trunki would be accepted as the changing bag, as the initial sizes are the same. It will be a million times easier for us if we can take her trunki, as I’ve sold her main changing bag and just carry a bumbag size one now. Glad you managed to fit all in that you needed

Hello!

sorry I know this is an old thread…. I am travelling with easy jet on Thursday and I cannot see the link above anyway, regarding a landscape changing bag….

Has this rule now changed? I was planning on bringing her small rucksack changing bag and the yo-yo.

thanks!

I have just rang them about this exact issue and was told it was a baby bag on board OR my bag not both. I don’t think that seems right

”If you’re travelling with an infant who will be seated on your lap, only an additional baby changing bag is allowed for the infant (max. 45 x 36 x 20 cm) and this must be placed under the seat in front of you”

I read this initiallly as being additional ie in addition to your own, because it also says “Everyone can bring one small cabin bag per person on board for free”. But perhaps the mean either/or; otherwise it wouldn’t need the ‘only’ in the sentence.

Maybe the picture I was referring to means that it’s a changing bag only and not your usual hand luggage.

Confusingly, this page www.easyjet.com/en/help/baggage/cabin-bag-and-hold-luggage drops the ‘only’ and just says “an additional baby changing bag is allowed for the infant” under the drop down for Cabin Bag Allowances For Children and Infants

“I'm sorry that we haven't been able to get back to you sooner, we are experiencing high volumes. If you have an infant seated on your lap, yes you will be allowed a small cabin bag for yourself and a baby changing bag for the infant”

I get the feeling that they deliberately make it vague so people take less luggage.

Does anyone know if easyJet will allow a trunki as cabin luggage? 🙂

Yes they do if its a standard sized trunki👍we flew with them at Christmas and my 3yo used his trunki. There is something written on their website that says trunkis can be used as a child's free carry on bag.

This is the page on the easyjet website that confirms this:

https://www.easyjet.com/en/help/boarding-and-flying/flying-with-children

You need to expand the "Children’s cabin bag and hold luggage allowance" section to see the information about Trunki bags

Standard size Trunki suitcases (46 x 20.5 x 31 cm) can be brought on board and will need to be placed under the seat in front of you. Larger size Trunki suitcases will have to go in the hold.

Hi,

Sorry I know this is an old thread, but I'm still a bit confused.

Can I take a Trunki for my lap sitting 18 month old as his 'changing bag'? or is it too big?

If you go by the dimensions on the website it says the Trunki is too big. But a Trunki is allowed if the child has a seat, although luggage allowance dimensions are the same 🤔

Should be fine, EasyJet say:

”If you’re travelling with an infant who will be seated on your lap, only an additional baby changing bag is allowed for the infant (max. 45 x 36 x 20 cm) and this must be placed under the seat in front of you.”

trunki dimensions are “generous dimensions of 46 x 20.5 x 31 cm and it has an 18 litre internal capacity.”

so I’d risk the additional 1cm

@helloimnew123 I took a trunki in place of the changing bag and it was fine

@SingingWaffleDoggy amazing- thanks.
I want to take it more as a novelty, but not if I end up paying loads to take it 🙈
