Attitudes towards public breastfeeding in Italy?

I was wondering if anyone has any insight into what sort of vibes there are around public breastfeeding in Italy, particularly in the north? We're going for a few weeks with my EBF 3mo DS. In the UK I tend to feed quite happily in restaurants and cafes etc with a muslin over us.

I have just spent a month travelling all around Italy and saw many mothers breastfeeding in public and was so pleased to see how feeding isn’t deemed an issue at all.
Enjoy your holiday and forget the muslin! And I echo everyone else when i say how much they love all babies. It’s an utter joy seeing everyone coo over little ones.

My inlaws are all Italian. Very open about breastfeeding and love babies.
A bit too comfortable with it imo.
DHs aunt and uncle came over from Italy when DS was born. I was lying on the sofa feeding as they arrived. They happily gave me kisses on both cheeks and kissed baby on the head whilst he was latched on.

But better than it being seen as something you need to hide away, I suppose.

When I was in hospital after DD was born, dp bought his teenage nephews in, and they were just fabulously natural about seeing me with my boobs out feeding. It made me see things differently because up till then I hadn't even been sure I was going to, or how I was going to.

We went to a fairly isolated island in southern Italy when baby was 9 months. We breastfed everywhere and no one battered an eyelid. It’s Italy they love children everyone breastfeeds and you can’t get a jar of baby food for love nor money as everything is freshly cooked! I think you will be absolutely fine!

Almost every mother breastfeeds in Italy, so don't worry at all. It's far rarer to see someone bottle feeding.
