Germany - anything that's been overlooked before travel?

DD is moving to Germany for a year as she's doing a year abroad under her uni course, so this isn't really holiday related.

She's renewed passport, got proof of uni course and accommodation, insurance (including health), a Ghic on the way, got FFP2 masks, had her second vaccine two weeks ago (Dr kindly agreed to let her have early). She has to fill in a digital form and university have told her she can apply for a residence permit once she's there. Anything else she might have overlooked?

Thanks for that. Hoping she won't need any money from us though, she gets an increased student loan, an erasmus grant and was very lucky to get a job at lockdown last year (previously struggled), most weeks giving her 34 hours pw.

I know she's had to open a blocked bank account but I think that's to cover her fees. Will point out about documentation for another account. From what we can gather paying in cash in very popular in Germany.

She going to Luneberg, south east of Hamburg. Don't know it, but it looks like a lovely town.

I never go abroad without a Halifax Clarity credit card - perfect exchange rate with no fees. I know she'll be living there, but if you ever wanted to buy her anything then she could put it on the credit card and you could pay the bill (or put the money in her English bank account and she pay it).

You could also look into the kind of documentation she might need to open a bank account once she's there.

Where's she going?
