In-destination lateral flow test or full PCR?

Does anyone know if a rapid lateral flow test is acceptable for the 'in-destination' test required a few days before re-entry to the UK?

We are 2 fully vaccinated adults, and kids ages 11, 9 and 5.

Hoping to book a last minute holiday to Greece, or Spain (or anywhere tbh, probably amber country) and more than likely won't get the TUI testing package delivered in time for when we go. So I'm just trying to figure it all out.

I can arrange the 72 hour post arrival PCRs required... but the in-destination testing is blowing my mind.

TIA

I did the same as @DesireAs.
You upload a picture on a printed background with your passport.
Their website does say they're very busy, though.

Check out the Trip Advisor forum for your destination - hopefully you'll find some info there about where to find a local test. Good luck & have a great holiday!

We got our LFTs done in our hotel lobby in Majorca, we asked at reception where we could book, and they told us they had a travelling medic team that visited the hotel 3 times a week €30. Easy prays, results (and certificates - crucial) in 5 mins.

There are loads of places where you can get your LFT/antigen test done ore travelling home. Pharmacies etc. Seriously you won't struggle unless you are in the middle of nowhere

@DesireAs

You can't use the NHS tests for this purpose - they have to be from a private supplier. We ordered ours to take with us to Spain next week from LivingCare, £25 per test, ordered Sunday, arrived in the post today.

Well that's killed my vibe.

I guess we'd have to find a place abroad to get tested!

Wish me luck 🤜🏼🤛🏽

Ohh thank you, that all sounds pretty simple. So I could just take the lateral flows I have at home with us and use those!

The in destination is easy. All LFT. Take a kit with you or use testing at your destination. 11+ need a test.

Super easy to book in Spain and Greece

I did it in Majorca three weeks ago - mobile units visit hotels or just walk in or book at a local medical Center which is what we did. Standard fee of 30 euros for LFT which is all you need. Now in Greece and exactly the same but a bit cheaper here - 20-25 euros pp.
