Any point registering for Clearing?

DD is on a gap year and has done A-Level Maths this year (distance learning) in addition to three A-levels she took last year. She needs A in the A-Level Maths to get onto the Artificial Intelligence course she would like at Loughborough. If she doesn't get A in Maths, she already has grades from A-levels taken last year to get into her second choice Uni Liverpool Hope.
Is there any point in registering for Clearing so she had a chance of getting into Loughborough course if she doesn't get awarded an A for the A-Level Maths?

Thanks for any advice Smile

Not clear what you are asking/what the current situation is. Has she actually applied for the Loughborough course? If it’s her firm choice then she will either get in or won’t, clearing us irrelevant.

She will only get automatically offered a place at Loughborough if gets grade A in Maths this year (will get result August 13th). Just wondered if any point to ask Loughborough via Clearing to still let her do the course if doesn't get grade A?

Sorry, yes she has applied to Loughborough and it is her firm choice.

If she misses her offer, the uni will consider her and decide whether to accept her anyway. If they say no, there's no point going through Clearing to the same uni and course because they've already turned her down

She needs to just wait and see what she gets. They may accept her with a lower grade if she doesn't get an A. It will depend on the overall grades awarded over the cohort. At least she has a back up course in the bag. My DD ended up going to her back up uni and had such a great experience she now says she is pleased she didn't get her first choice.

If Loughborough say no to her when they see her results they won't consider her through Clearing. If she's unsuitable for her original course they may offer her an alternative but Clearing won't be an option in this situation.
She could use Clearing to go to another university but if she meets the conditions of her insurance choice she'll automatically be given that place so would need to be released by that university.
