My DC have to go and have a DSA assessment, you get sent a list of centres near you. Are they all the same? Does it make any difference where you go? Should you just go to the nearest one?
Any experience of having an assessment would be great.

Thank you! Appt for 6th so hope we can sort out email stuff tomorrow. And no, DS said none of this! It's so very hard when he's so resistant/controlling about any help.

Well, the appointment was yesterday afternoon. 2.5hrs! Assessor was brilliant. Had read all the info sent beforehand thoroughly. She was assigned DS as he is hearing impaired and has cerebral palsy. Her specialisms. She explained the team all had different specialisms and were all trained to work with dyslexic students. She had made a few decisions before we arrived based on the paperwork and then checked them with DS. Then asked loads of questions and made lots of recommendations. I felt she was very thorough and knowledgeable. DS is (hopefully) going to get a variety of help from equipment to "non-medical helper" and a learning contract (with accommodations to be made and giving tutors guidance on how to work with DS) My head is still spinning with it all tbh! Shocked at what he needs.
