When are people's DCs planning on finalising their personal statements, with a view to getting the UCAS applns sent off?

DS's school have done the grade predictions but as far as I know haven't done the reference bit yet.

DS has done the first draft of his PS, has feedback from his tutor and is aiming to polish it up this weekend.

Congratulations to her Mummeee. My daughters doing a Btec too although has a year still to go. I know how hard they have to work to get the higher grades! Well done her and well done on getting a BA place.

Hi panic over. Her college Tutor spoke to her today. He told her that her actual results were Distinction Merit Merit and also apologized for the mix up. He said that would get sorted out

I don't know how accurate it is but maybe you could put the results she thinks she has got into this calculator and see if it differs at all from DMM, I presume it was her DMM which gained her enough tariff points to be offered the BA course.

Not sure she phoned the college yesterday and was waiting to heat back from them when I left for work. Was doing a sleep in so haven't seen her since then. Spoke to DH last night ans hw didn't think she'd heard anything. She''s out until 9 tonight so I won't know what's happened until then. xxx

Mummeee - oh no, how frustrating for your DD. I hope she gets it sorted soon. Are the college able to confirm her actual results, even if it takes UCAS a bit longer to catch up on their system?

DD3 got her BTECH results today. It was Distinction Merit Merit. so far so good but then she looked at how she had done in each module and discovered they had put some wrong. modules and results. 2 of the modules she hadn't done at all and they hadn't put a couple she had done down. Also the result given for another module was a pass and she knew she had a merit in it, so basically Edexel have some how messed up her results. She phoned the exam department at her college and they said they would phone her back ASAP. It's very annoying as Bolton had her results last week and based on that offered for her to do a degree instead of an HND which she accepted yesterday.

hope any Scottish mumsnetters children got what they needed.

DC is having an interesting summer with various trips and some work so is too busy to think about results much.

Ds is working in a local pub but is off to a festival this weekend which he is VERY excited about. Then he's home for a week before we go off for our family holiday. By the time we get back it will be a week until results day, then I hope, all systems go to get him sorted out for university. eeek!

My DD is away in Malia this week with her friends, back on Wednesday. Then she will be back working in our local pub until she goes to uni. She reckons that she will earn enough to support herself in her first year covering holidays. She worked all through her exams too.

DS had his last Maths paper today (S2). However, he was ill all last weekend so thinks his A* may have gone as sat C4 on Tuesday after a weekend either asleep or in the loo, and it was a nasty paper.

He has been sorting out old textbooks that should have been returned to the school may years ago!

We have a "goodbye" BBQ at the school tonight.

Hi everyone DD3 has finished college. All her work has been sent off for the final grades. She did BTECH Extended Diploma in IT. She has worked hard and looks like she's done well she has Distinctions in some units but we won't know her final. grades until August, DH and I are very proud of her as although she is 21 she has Dyspraxia and other learning difficulties and has worked very hard. Thank you to those of who advised us to apply for DSA. She is getting this and haf her needs assessment on Monday. The assessor was very helpful and has recommended a good package of support for her including help with her organisation.

Hope your all holding up been thinking of you all and your DC's.

Have started filling a box with bits for DS to take to uni. He will be the one with the cupcake cases and icing set, it was that or put them in the charity box. I feel he is going to beg me to stop decluttering before he ends up with a room full of random stuff and nothing useful.

don't know Newferry.

Report
boomting · 09/06/2013 19:57

NewFerry - all it will be is a paper that is written for that specification, but with slightly different (but no harder / easier) questions from the original paper. The difference in papers will be similar to the difference between this year's and last year's papers.

Report
NewFerry · 09/06/2013 18:46

DS is taking the Edexcel maths papers and their teacher has told them that most of the papers are emergency replacements as the original papers had been left out in a school somewhere, so they all had to be replaced.

Not sure if it's at all significant, just an interesting fact to share.

Actually, are there any stats showing whether emergency papers tend to give rise to better or worse results? And if so, do I want to know?
