Constant nausea but no cause...

About 7 weeks ago I started feeling really nauseous, gagging a lot in the morning, feeling weak/dizzy sometimes too. Thought maybe I was pregnant after a few weeks (not trying) but 2 tests were negative. I had a period but as I did with my ds I did another test a few days after too just to check. Now it's been 7-8 weeks of feeling sick, bad taste in mouth, gagging in the mornings, and no answers.
Doc suggested sinus infection but didn't want to give me antibiotics (4 weeks in) to see if I could fight it. Have no head pain or tooth pain though so unconvinced. Had blood tests that showed elevated red cell count, and something that indicates parasites. Neither of which apparently explains my symptoms. My thyroid is also slightly overactive (already controlled with meds). Second doc I saw was stumped, said defo NOT a sinus infection and to get more blood tests (repeat them) in 6 weeks.
Despite overactive throid I'm gaining weight rather than losing as eating helps me not feel so sick.

Anyone else experienced anything similar? I'm seeing an acupuncturist next week but any possible causes would be great so I can at least run through them with doc if this continues.

Also worth noting no doctor has asked about my diet or felt stomach.

Thank you!

No I didn't have any dizziness, just weird nausea and some vomiting because of it all the time.

I am on mental health meds as well btw which had been changed over summer and my GP did say that could have been a cause, but it was many months later that the problem started.

Hope everyone feels better soon

GP thinks I have Vitamin B12 deficiency - so another blood test to be sure. If this is the cause I will need B12 injections. My DIL has this condition. I've googled and I certainly have a fair few of the symptoms. Have another apt with GP next Friday when I'll have had another blood test.

Seeing my GP tomorrow - spoken to her on phone and she wanted me to have a blood test which I've done and will be back by tomorrow. Just hope she can find something treatable. She's a lovely very thorough GP so I know she will do her best. Thing is I have MH issues as well (depression/anxiety) and I changed meds this summer and she thinks the nausea might be caused by stopping the meds I was on for years, but can't go back on them - so not sure? She said she wanted to do other tests before "blaming the meds"

Will report back....

That's good news for you then Lem!

Mme - where do you get your probiotics from? I get ones from Holland and Barratt but I'm not sure they are helping anymore so want to get some stronger ones!

Thanks - good to know people are funding solutions!

All my last round of bloods came back normal - defo not pregnant, hormone levels ok, liver, kidneys and negative ovarian cancer. Phew!

So, starting to look at other areas - do you feel dizzy thewildrumpypumpus?

I'm thinking digestion, gonna try to eat super healthy (after the wine tonight to celebrate not being pregnant!), will try the probiotics you suggest and if it doesn't ease over Xmas doc said he will refer me in the new year.

Best of luck ladies!

My bloating and nausea seem a lot better since I started on the mega probiotics. I got Optibac extra strength.

I had similar nausea problems for over a month recently, I started a thread on here as I was so baffled about it!

I ended up taking motion sickness pills as the GP suspected an inner ear problem, I got Phenergan from the pharmacist. One morning and night and I have had problems since - I have to cut down to just one in the morning from tomorrow and see how I go.

May be worth trying since you could just get them from Boots tomorrow?

I had my gastro appointment and was told it's IBS. I'm not sure but am willing to trust the expert for now!
He gave me some antibiotics (erythromycin) to take before eating to speed up stomach motility but I've been too scared of the side effects to try them yet!
Hope your results reveal something Lem. It's odd that there are a few of us with this odd nausea, it's so easy to feel alone when you feel crap for such a long time.

Great news about the bowel. Never heard of helicopater pylori, but if its easily treatable and gives you an answer. Great news!
I went back to docs, he still has no idea. Is doing blood preg test, hormone tests and ovarian cancer test (yikes) which I should get back next week. He was v good and said he would refer me if all came back fine so at least he is taking me seriously!

Keep us updated on yours notdoingalot. X

My tests found a very healthy bowel (phew) but some inflammation and polyps in my stomach. They're testing the biopsies tests but particularly interesting was the possibility of it being Helicobacter pylori. After a quick google, it sounds very familiar and easily treatable so I'm hoping that's what the results say when they come through. one of the symptoms of Helicobacter pylori Can be PMS symptoms which I have had in abundance.

lem31 good luck for Friday

Good luck with that! You must want an answer at least. It's very interesting how many different things can cause sickness, although mine is still just the nausea. My boobs are quite itchy too (like when I was pregnant..,) but surely can't be pregnant! I've booked another docs appointment on Friday so will see what he says. I have a toddler to look after - I can't carry on like this much longer!

Best of luck again - let us know how you get on. X

I posted on the thread before but have just name changed. I have had nausea for a few months now. My appetite had disappeared and I've been having lots of bouts of stomach cramps and loose poo. My GP referred me to the local hospital and I am scheduled for a colonoscopy and endoscopy tomorrow. It's weird that I'm hoping they find something but then again I don't want them to!

I had similar about a year ago, feeling very nauseous, queasy, burping a lot and spasming pain at night. GP diagnosed gastritis and gave me a course of lansoprazole which cleared it right up.

No, I'm being a bit rubbish really. It's becoming normal so I'm living with it rather than acting on it! Also keep thinking maybe it'll go in a few days so I'll wait it out. I will this week though.

Good news Mme.

Gall bladder thing is interesting, how is it diagnosed?

I've been feeling very nautious, gassy and bloated for the past week, have no idea why but this evening have very bad cramps and a touch of upset stomach. Am tempted to try fodmap diet or whatever it's called, just so I can feel like I'm doing something!

Mmegateaux - good news, thanks for updating. I hope the digestive option helps you find the cause. Good luck.

And thanks trilieral - a friend of mine had gall stones and she thought it was a tummy bug for weeks then needed emergency surgery when docs figured it out. I'm going to have to go back to doc soon and may actually get them to ask questions about digestion or feel my tummy at least! Very strange they have looked everywhere else but my stomach for the cause of nausea... X

I had nausea on and off for years. Finally diagnosed with chronic gall bladder infection. Apparently it can mimic lots of things. I also had really unpleasant episodes of gassiness, bloating and pain, worsening in the latter stages but I almost never had the classic gall-bladder pain, right up until the infection flared up. Possibly worth bearing in mind? Unfortunately I think it's one of those vague symptoms that can be caused by lots of things. Hope you feel better soon.

Had ultrasound this morning and no ovarian cyst, phew.
Just ordered some mega probiotics to see if I'm just having weird digestive issues.

Yeah, you should defo go this week. When you feel bad you eat bad and then it makes you feel worse. I'm like that at moment so get it! But you need to get better and you will need to see doc if its been going on that long - isn't going anywhere on its own. Best of luck and keep us updated. X

Another one here with the same problem. It's been on and off since the summer but got worse around Sept/Oct but more or less cleared up end October but is back........no real pain but a few stomach cramps and poo different colour (sorry if tmi) I know I should see the GP but I hate going there even though I have one who's very nice. Never had anything like this before and yep it's making me really miserable too. I usually eat quite healthily but haven't been for ages - white toast/crackers etc as I can't face my usual diet.

Surprised no one who has seen a GP has had an endoscopy as I would have thought this would be one of the first things to look to see if there is anything wrong in the stomach.

Definitely need to see GP...........

No wonder moodykat. Sounds awful.

I had acupuncture and he thinks its a hormonal imbalance which was interesting. The pain got really awful but has now all but gone, just leaving me a bit achey. I wonder if it was a cyst as it seems to fit best from anything I've read.

I will of course let you know if doc comes up with anything. X

I would also be interested in the outcome. I've had similar, the nausea eased for a while but over the past two weeks or so it's come back. Have had ultrasound and blood tests, all normal apart from iron so have been taking spatone for past 3 months but not sure it's helping anything! Coeliac came back negative but have gastro appointment on 19th.
Hoping there is some cause as it's really making me miserable!
