I was just interested to see what it was and what they classed as 'normal'.

Maybe it will give you the incentive to make a few changes that will help you stay healthy :)

Brilliant Grin Both on the 'no retinopathy' and your result today - you must be breathing a HUGE sigh of relief :)

Did they say what your HbA1c was?

Lol chipping!yea wish i had!lol
Has bootcamps got a topic of its own or is it part of another one?
Also had my eyes tested thoroughly yest where they did the retinotherapy as ive had troible with my sight getting worse in my right eye&i usually go to a different optician where ive had to have varifocals to wear all the time now!
They dont do the retinotherapy there though
Ive worn glasses for tv,reading etc since my late20s but usual optician said that sigjt in that eye has detiorated faster than he woild have expected!
Anyway test yest confirmed that theres nowt nasty going on except dry eye which ive got. drops for now
so no diabetic retinopathy which is a very good sign im hoping!
Lol footle yea much more fun!

BabyJane Sorry, I didn't see your post on Saturday (or those after it), my 'Threads I'm On' is too fast moving!

How easy is it not to eat lots of carbs - for me, being a non egg eating vegetarian, I wont lie, it is hard. However, if you come and join BIWI's Bootcamp threads, you will see for egg eating non veggies, it's not too hard and there are lots of tasty options and things you think you shouldn't eat that once you are low carbing you can eat :)

No idea what 'venus' means? I wonder if she has done the HbA1c?

Fasting test of 5.7 really doesn't mean anything. That would be what I would consider a fairly high fasting level for me and I do have diabetes. I'm not saying you DO, but just that I wouldn't call it 'normal'.

I will put this on my 'watch' list so you don't 'drop off' again!

Dame - I low carb too, it controls it. If I listened to the NHS advice I would be on metformin, statins and god alone knows what else - all to control something I can control by not eating lots of carbs?!

dame I actually have a thread running in this subject. Sadly my rubbish care is not unusual, the advise given is seriously misguided. I self test having bought a monitor, ( told it was not necessary) low carb ( a silly fad apparently) exercise. Luckily I am into food an understand the impact on blood levels. I suspect though I may not be run of the mill type2 if such a thing exists. Need to put my foot down when I go back for annual check. Sorry baby did not mean to hyjack your thread, I hope you sort you tiredness out Smile

He was getting up to use the loo a couple of times every night as well, although he was putting it down to drinking lager...

Orchid your local diabetes support sounds abysmal. Could you make an appointment to discuss general stuff with GP and try and find out if she/he even knows you've got it and how badly? Are you prescribed Metformin?

DP's diabetes nurse is great, but reading up the condition and taking note of the diet has been even more valuable.
