I ebay book arrived today BAAF 'If You Dont Stick We Me, Who Will?'
I've only glanced at it so far, but it looks very informative. Taking up a suggestion i'll also look up Attachment Theory as i guess the two are obviously linked. Hopefully the extra knowledge and understanding will help on the O.U study course as well :o)
I wonder if a fostering social worker has ever penned a book over the anguish they must also go through. I know they've been demonised by the media many times, but it has to be said, in fairness they have a really tough job to do.

LollyBobs-lo's health visitor also suggested that one (I am currently awaiting delivery from amazon!)

Why love matters-how affection shapes a baby's brain by Sue Gerhardt is a good one. Quite heavy reading but good to dip in and out of (when I have any spare time..... Grin)

I would recommend "Building the bonds of attachment" by Dan Hughes. I found it really compelling reading.

Each chapter tells a bit of story, then has a bit of theory to explain how attachment related to what the child is doing and explains their behaviour.
