Novice at cakes... Can I do this...

Would it be ok to freeze a two layered cake with a gooey chocolate filling in (similar texture to Nutella although it’s not) and then cover it with a buttercream crumb coat whilst it’s still frozen and let it defrost after that? Will this work ?

That was so helpful! Thank you so much. What a great website - friendly and easy fro read/understand for someone of my baking level. I also learnt about ‘cake release’ there as well! Really appreciate the response.

I think you could assemble first before freezing but it looks like you'd get condensation on the filling when it defrosted.
