He did the online shop. I now have 6 bags of new potatoes. Can you give me some suggestions for what to do with them? I normally just season and serve with veg and fish or chicken dishes. Grin TIA

Potatoes Dauuphinoise and Boulangeres, freeze.

I do and they keep well for a couple of months in the bottom of my fridge

Putting them in the fridge makes them think winter has been and gone and they sprout earlier. Also, putting 6 bags of potatoes in the fridge, just wastes space and energy. They are more than happy in a cool dark place well away from plastic.

I roast them with rock salt and rosemary.

Toss them first in olive oil, then sprinkle with the rock salt and rosemary.

Roast in the oven.

Delicious with salmon fillets and creme fraiche.

You can mash them. It's called crushed potatoes so not really smooth mashed but crushed with butter and salt.

Just keep them in a cool dark place, they'll last for ages.

Five got about 40 leeks...I'll swap you some for some potatoes and we can both live off leek and potato soup for weeks!!!

Definitely roast them. Only takes about 40 minutes, I don't bother parboiling first.

Do (can) you take packed lunches to work?

don't put in fridge.find old pillow case or dark sack,or little trays covered with towels.cool and dark place they can last ages.
make a couple of shephards pies and freeze.for the topping allhtough it wont mash properly it will smash down to make a nice topping still.
smashed potatos.par boil.put onto a tray and slight 'smash' them down and then drizzle some melted butter and garlic and some herbs on then roast in the oven.delish.
a potato bake.boild potatos.slightly fry with some bacon and chicken.put into dish with some leeks and sprinklove over some cheese.oven bake.
slice and put onto chicken pie or beef pie base,
sausage casserole with sliced potatos ontop.
hassleback potatos.slice all the way along to not wuite all the way down.in between the slices stick in some garlic and butter.oven cook.yum.
veggie stew with all different veggies, tin tomatos.stock,chickpeas.chorizo

They are nice roast, and in omelettes. Or cooked in stock until the stock has mostly evaporated to gravy.

I think they should have an "are you sure?" message when ordering silly amounts of one thing.

Yes! I have been known to accidentally order 4 pounds of pears, and 8 bags of carrots.

The vodka comment was a bit faceitous, unless you have a still.

DH supervised the arrival of the online shopping and is not a man that can admit to making a mistake, especially with technology.

I think they should have an "are you sure?" message when ordering silly amounts of one thing. Especially if you've never ordered that many before!

All great ideas, I shall be doing a fair bit of cooking over the next week. If DH insists on sticking to his low carb then binge on bran flakes diet then I shall start throwing them at him.

How do I make vodka with new potatoes??
