Or an idea of how to peel a soft boiled egg without it breaking apart??

In the microwave you need to prick the yolk and white to stop it from exploding. And really watch it to make sure it doesn't overlook.

Overcook**

I was the one with the microwave idea - agree you must be careful, stay close and don't leave it in too long.

A definitely don't put an egg in the microwave still in its shell...

If you use the microwave method, would it be ok to cover the mug with some kitchen roll or a small plate?

KP86 · 29/01/2016 21:52

Kitchen roll, sure. I don't think I would use a plate. If for no other reason as it would get hot and if the egg exploded it would be a double whammy of hot/pain

I'd go for a plate on top - it's not going explode that hard. And plate itself won't get hot as it's only going to be in 30 secs (and will be dry)
