Get the "woo" thanks to UQD's translation.
Don't get "buckethead".
Want equal access to Shed. I sulk retire to my potting shed when seeking peace & quiet.

IN which case we need an automatic emoticon for 'Fuck off to Flouncers' Corner you buckethead!'
A smiley face showing its arse and flipping a V, perhaps?

We'll have to give some thought to a system of punitive fines for posting in the wrong area - that could be fun.

I think the time had come when we had to face up to the fact that the Flouncers need their place too. After all Cod, you've got your lipgloss area. And yes it could also be a neat receptacle for all the MN is crap/not like it was in the good old days/full of meanies threads so we know where to look when we are feeling too carefree .

I see it as like the "sin-bin" in rugby where people are sent off for 10 mins.

Report
Hulababy · 30/05/2008 11:53

Is it like a time out corner where the flouncers can spend some moments rflecing and calmng down?

Thing is the "reasonable" thing is from Sam Harris, not me.

"It is worth noting that no one ever need identify himself as a non-astrologer or a non-alchemist. Consequently, we do not have words for people who deny the validity of these pseudo-disciplines. Likewise, ?atheism? is a term that should not even exist. Atheism is nothing more than the noises reasonable people make when in the presence of religious dogma."

stuffitllama · 30/05/2008 11:41

ooh i don't know

calling oneself reasonable

we are all reasonable to ourselves, it's everyone else that's unreasonable -- oh can you take it back, can't bear that "i'm a reasonable man" line

i believe you're not Ben though -- too nice

Report
UnquietDad · 30/05/2008 11:38

No, I'm not Ben. Promise.

And so-called "aggressive" or "militant" atheism is just the reasonable person's response to the encroachment of superstition into our daily lives.

hmm, to hide or not to hide...

Then again I'm so self absrobed, I never notice if people have gone or not.

I think this corner is a genius idea...anyone contemplating a big dramatic attention seeking flounce will immediately feel stupid as they have to post it in "flouncer's corner"!

osmosis - woo is the general term for anything crystal-waving, paranormal, "alternative", dippy-hippy, pesuedo-sciencey.

PMSL at stubborn stain, that's a fine way to refer to your dh capp

Report
Cappuccino · 30/05/2008 09:54

it is great

if we hide it then we will never know people went

they always come back in about 2 minutes to tell us they are a) drunk or b) sorry or c) having difficulty shifting a stubborn stain

I think they all got pissed and thought it would be REALLY funny!

But no.
