Thomson Screening  was founded in 2011 by City, University of London to develop and commercialise software known as SchoolScreener Vision and SchoolScreener Hearing. This software is used in over 5,000 schools by non clinical NHS staff to screen children aged 4- 5 for their vision and hearing.Thomson Screening is seeing demand from schools to check children (at Key Stages 2 and 3)  for mild to moderate vision or hearing deficits which may be affecting educational attainment or behaviour. The company has developed a variant of its SchoolScreener software for use by School Support or SEN staff. Known as SchoolScreenerforSchools, this variant also includes automated reporting for SLT (and parents) and to support Welfare and Inclusion reporting for OFSTED visits. Knowing whether a child has a mild to moderate vision and/or hearing impairment empowers schools to make a adjustments and parents to take their child to the high street optician or GP. For most children a pair of glasses will be the solution for their eyesight and a visit to the for an initial GP assessment of their hearing. Even children screened age 4-5 can develop undetected vision or hearing problems as they grow and in some areas there is no NHS provision. The company will be commencing marketing this variant during the Spring term of 2024. This will focus on Heads of Inclusion, SEN and Headteachers and will be backed up by research on the impact of undetected vision and/or hearing problems on children’s education and social development/behaviour as they develop. We are looking for School Account Managers who will focus mainly on Multi Academy Trusts and Private Schools in your local area to deliver and prospect vision and hearing checks,  as a service to schools. You will both prospect for schools and deliver the checks yourself or train the school’s support staff to check children (Thomson Screening will train you). In both cases, you would be responsible for generating interest in the solutions and managing on ongoing relationship with the school. Following are the key responsibilities for the role:

  • Working closely with the Business Development Manager to generate interest in schools through a consultative, solution-led approach.
  • Working towards achieving minimum monthly revenue and delivery targets.
  • Explaining the benefits of our product
  • Creating relationships with key stakeholders in schools
  • Keeping the company informed of learnings as the number of schools you visit increases.
  • Supporting the Customer Success team through engaging in training the school staff using the product.
  • Undertaking any administrative duties as part of your role

You will be working with a company which has an established reputation and products. The company will provide comprehensive training (you do not need to know anything about vision or hearing) and its products substantially exceed the requirements for GDPR compliance. Please note this is a commission only role. You would ideally have experience of the education sector either as a former teacher or support staff with proven ability to work independently. You must have excellent communication and numerical skills, resilient and organised and have the ability to plan and manage time efficiently. If successful, you would be required to have enhanced DBS check which will be arranged by the company for those without. You must have the right to work in the UK.
