Hello, please can anyone recommend your favourite recipes for the fast800? Preferably with links or instructions!

Thanks

I've just made the beetroot brownies with the children. They don't have sugar or any substitute in so are not very sweet but they seem to like them. I also changed the flour for coconut flour as trying to keep clear from wheat as much as possible.

@TakeMeToKernow Cauliflower mash is a good idea, might give that a go. I've been having white bean mash which I really like.

I lost 2 pounds, which I'm pretty happy with at this point. I miss the big losses of the first couple of weeks, but onwards and downwards is OK by me, will get there eventually!

And looking forward to the weigh in update Dex!

Thanks Dex!

Found the cowboy beans recipe and will give it a go. Also trying rye bread for the first time tomorrow!

The cauliflower mash has so far been the recipe I’ve loved the most and I think it’ll stay with me for life Grin

@MintyCedric are you weighing in on Monday? Are you doing the online programme too?

Nah...I'm winging it! But yes, Monday weigh in...not feeling overly optimistic tbh as I know I could have done better.

Long walk tomorrow morning though, and will think what to have for dinner for maximum damage limitation. Tonight's chicken satay salad was a bit meh.

@buckeejit I believe in the book there is advice about the best protein/carb/fat macro splits, but to be honest I haven't worried to much about it at that detailed level yet. If at some point my weight loss slows or stalls I will probably have a look though.

@MintyCedric sounds really good!

@lozengeoflove that's brilliant! Well done! I'm so glad you're enjoying the online programme, but sorry to hear about your calves. It's always so annoying when you get injured!

I'm weighing in tomorrow. Feeling a bit nervous as it hasn't been my best week, but hopefully it won't be too bad!

Hi everyone.
Thanks for checking in @Decidedlydex. I’m really enjoying it so far. Have decided to weigh myself daily and have, since starting on Monday, lost 8 pounds! Am totally over the moon. Only 5.5 stone left to go. Grin

I really love the food. It’s delicious! And I did not believe I’d find it filling but I do. Not sure if this makes any difference but I also do the 16:8 (or is it 8:16?) fasting.

Exercising was going great until I managed to really hurt my calves. Can hardly walk without wincing!!

Online recipes are just so delicious. I’m glad it’s all there on my phone too. Super easy to use!

@MintyCedric are you weighing in on Monday? Are you doing the online programme too?

I’m off to make my dinner. Vegetable lasagne.

Sirloin steak marinated in Korean BBQ then pan fried and sliced.

Chargrilled broccoli
Mango
Avocado
Red onion
Brown Rice

Maybe some shredded carrot and sliced radishes, possibly an egg...it's a new recipe, I've googled a few options and am kind of making it up tbh!

Reading with interest. I've 5 stone+ to lose & started better diet & dry Jan & have lost a stone. Ive coped doing 1300 a day mostly but worry that 800 might be too hard-I've done the odd very low day.

Do you have to follow a split of protein/veg? Good luck to you all!

@MintyCedric sounds like you're making a really good start! It will get easier in the evenings with time, my cravings have definitely popped up less, especially over the last week or two

@Decidedlydex thanks for asking.

I've been great at sticking to it during the day, but the evenings have been a bit hit and miss. Still I'm eating more healthily and recording what I eat which is good I think.

I'll weigh in on Monday and hope for some progress in the right direction.

@TakeMeToKernow there's a recipe for cowboy beans which are pretty good imo. It's in the fast800 recipe book but also is online.

I’m less than a week in, but already my OH is asking when we can eat baked beans again... are any of the low sugar tinned varieties suitable? Or any fast 800 friendly recipes for them?

Thanks so much for the advice, @Decidedlydex
Yes, I’m doing the online programme. The forum community there seems very supportive. I am determined to see it through.

@MintyCedric that's a great idea and your dinners sound lovely.

@lozengeoflove ah, are you on the online programme?

I think my best advice is to go simple, at least for the first few weeks. It's such an adjustment that you need to give yourself the best opportunity for success and you really don't want to have to spend hours and hours cooking (unless that is what you love to do of course)

Also, drink water. More than you ever thought possible. It makes a massive difference, especially with the headaches. The other thing is not to be discouraged if you don't see a loss one week, it seems to be fairly normal to have a week or two of massive loss and then have no loss for a week while your body adjusts.

Not really! Going shopping tomorrow. Have seen the menu for next week and it looks good.

I’m not looking forward to the sugar withdrawal headaches!

Any words of advice @Decidedlydex?

Largely...

Have decided to have the same thing for breakfast and lunch every day to make things easier.

11am - 2 x medium eggs - scrambled with a chopped bacon medallion, mushrooms and cherry
tomatoes

2pm - miso soup with sliced spring onions, baby corn, mushrooms and red pepper

6pm - dinner, currently:

Mon - Chicken caesar salad
Tues - Tuna puttanesca with roasted Mediterranean veg
Weds - warm salad of pork fillet with pear, blue cheese and walnuts on spinach and rocket
Thurs - chilli and ginger salmon with stir fried veg
Fri - Bolognese with roast veg (can't stand courgetti)
Sat - Tandoori chicken with salad or a spinach and cauliflower curry
Sun - Roast beef with lots of veg

I'd settle for being the weight I was after giving birth tbh Blush.

In the meantime, tonight's dinner is a fat burger with all the trimmings and chunky chips

Absolutely the save as you @MintyCedric

Excited to start and lose the pounds. Many, many, many pounds. Am borderline with thyroid issues and have been monitored for under active thyroid for the last 18 months.

I’m so fed up of being nearly twice the size I was before having children!

Report
MintyCedric · 23/01/2021 18:48

@lozengeoflove

Terrified. I have a very underactive thyroid and 8 - 9 stone to lose, but my self-esteem is on the floor and it's almost entirely connected to my appearance so it's got to be done.

How about you? Are you raring to go or feeling a bit apprehensive
