Nothing for breakfast. A small plain chicken or tuna salad for lunch if I'm hungry, nothing if I'm not. Then my take on hot and sour soup for dinner (DH likes it too) - shredded chicken, bamboo shoots, carrot, peppers, pak choi, mushrooms etc, plus stock, garlic, wine vinegar, soy sauce, shitloads of sriracha chilli sauce and chilli bean sauce, maybe a bit of five spice.

We end up having that every fasting day and because the veg combination is always different (depending on what needs using up!) we're not bored with it yet.

Wow .. 4 stone!! How long has that taken him, was he quite overweight to start with? I've lost 5 pounds since Sunday , I'm only about a stone over weight so I'm well pleased with that but I do feel a bit odd not eating enough. ( light headed etc )

Im just marking my place because ive struggled a bit (especially around 4pm in the afternoon)

I think because I have a 'breakfast (just a boiled egg) that I am kickstarting my desire to eat.

Do you guys use sweeteners in your hot drinks?

I've been trying to low carb, for the 50th time, and its just not coming off, so I'm obviously eating too much veg.

Think I will give 5:2 a go.

No breakfast. Crumpet with low fat spread or small soup for lunch. 300 cal ready meal in evening. Like a lot of people I don't like to think too much about food when I'm fasting.
I'm doing 3:4 fasting (fasting Mon, Wed and Fri). This gives me a bit more leeway at weekends- DH and children are all skinny and do lots of exercise and we eat as a family all weekends, so meals need to reflect this. (I also share a bottle of wine with DH on Sat and Sun!)
I've been doing it for 3 weeks and have lost. 9 lbs. Finding it easier than continual dieting, although I am still tracking what I eat in non fast days as it's clear that my idea of "normal" eating was a lot more than it should have been!

My DH and I just have hot drinks throughout the day (hot water/black coffee/tea sometimes), then have a 'big' meal for about 300-350 cals in the eve (then a 40 cal hot choc at bedtime. Living the dream!).

I make veg curries and we have a small portion of brown rice, squash & chorizo stew with cous cous, chicken curry, butternut mulligatawny etc. this way it's a bit tough by early evening, but hopefully we're getting the full benefits of a fast and also feeling that we're having something substantial.

If you want any of the recipes I'm happy to post (but later when DH brings the laptop home!).

bish, it's taken him about 6 months. He's gone from 16 stone (so very tubby but not technically obese) to 12. He now has a faint 6 pack and doesn't he know it Grin I've got about 5 lbs more to go.

I definitely find that if I have breakfast, I am then hungrier than if I wait until lunch.

I do in some herbal teas - I use splenda.

This is what I love about Mnet. Ive been doing 5.2 since jan 6th and lost 5lb so far, although as I say I struggle in the afternoon so end up doing more of a 'reduced calorie' day instead of 5.2 which makes me feel like ive failed (I do about 700 calories)

Im on maternity leave at the moment but back to work in 4 weeks and im so busy generally at work that I think it will be easier. At home with the baby I find myself reaching for food through the day.

I have half a coffee with sweetener about 11.00.

Late lunch - massive salad (90 cals), ham/chicken (150 cals), bit of dressing (30 cals). Also have a diet coke to fill me up.

Soup for tea - 220 ish cals.

I have been doing for 3/4 weeks, have lost 4/5 pounds but mainly am enjoying not being bloated all the time, it really sorts me out in that respect.

the trouble with all of those convoluted low this low that foods is that they are often highly processed
and in the long term not sustainable - as the secret is to find a way of eating that you enjoy so the weight will never pile back on again.
Ever.

I have eaten better quality food since starting this, than I ever did before. You can eat far more with a home cooked meal, than you can with a ready meal.
Had a big salad for lunch today, which was 74 calories
A handful of almonds - 64 calories
Dinner will be a large piece of baked cod, with a whole load of veg and 1/3 tin of beans. It will be under 300 cals
That leaves me a bit of leeway for another snack (maybe more almonds) if I need it.

I drink water and tea (no sugar, just a splash of milk)

Salad for me is a big bag of mixed leaves (lots of rocket), some sliced red pepper, sliced red onion and a splash of red wine vinegar. If I have some calories available I'll sprinkle on a bit of Stilton.

I'm sure others will have much more exotic salads!

Nothing for breakfast except coffee, water or herbal tea.

If I feel light-headed or lacking concentration I might have a boiled egg and an apple/tangerine, or a small tin of tuna (123 cals) with some black pepper, tomato or cucumber around 2pm. Some Covent Garden soups are are only around 160 for the whole thing (love their Mushroom) - so occasionally have one of those.

A winter FD supper is usually an omelette with lots of peppers and mushrooms, or a

For me, salad is baby spinach leaves, red pepper, celery, mixed sprouts, baby tomatoes.
Sometimes a sprinkle of pine nuts and seeds, sometimes a couple of spoons of tuna, sometimes a little grated cheese, today it was a couple of spoons of cottage cheese.
If I want a dressing, I use balsamic vinegar.
Because the calories in the main ingredients are so low, I can have a decent volume of food.

Vegetable soup is another filling lunch.
