Weight gain with Contraceptive Implant

I have been on the implant about 18 months and my weight has steadily increased ever since despite diet and exercise. Has anyone experienced this and had the implant taken out followed by weight loss? I’m trying to decide what to do for the best. TIA Leanne x

I gained weight rapidly on this, hated it. I think about two stone in as many months!

I begged the doctors to remove it and felt instantly better, started loosing weight, and then fell pregnant again 🤦🏼‍♀️

Im looking into the copper coil now as I don't want to put any hormones into my body

Exactly the answer I was hoping for (apart from the getting pregnant again bit 😂), I have an appointment to have mine taken out but I wanted to check if the weight would come back off as I don’t want my periods back if there isn’t another incentive lol. Thanks for the reply xx

I’ve had my implant for 3 years in April. I have pilled on the weight, I’m currently at my heaviest despite considerable effort to loose it. I also lost my sex drive completely which I put down to having my children but now I’m sure it’s the implant. I’m having mine out soon and I definitely won’t be having another. I’d rather have a period and go back to my old weight than have another 3 years of this struggle. I’m so fed up with the inability to loose weight with this thing!

Oh no, I have booked in for an implant and have just lost 2stone, I don't want to put it back on.

Although I can't speak for the implant, I gained weight with both the injection and the Mirena coil - it just fell off when I had the coil removed and I was able to come off antidepressants too, and the low sex drive I though was just me stopped being an issue.
Never touching hormonal contraception again!

I did gain weight with Mirena but not the injection. Fingers crossed I can manage my weight with the implant 🫣. I've thrown out my fat clothes and don't intend to buy more.
