Never been on progesterone-only pill before...am I meant to have a period?

I had my second baby 5 months ago and have since been on a progesterone only pill (Micronor) as I'm breastfeeding. I've never been on this type of pill before - I've always been on the combined pill before. Anyway, when I first started taking it I messed up and thought I was meant to get through a pack and then come off for a week to bleed like the previous pill I was on. When I didn't bleed I thought it was strange so mentioned it to my GP who told me that I shouldn't have come off to bleed, I should take it continuously. So since then I've been taking it correctly.

However, this evening my first post-baby period has started and I'm getting confused about this pill again. Am I meant to have a period on this pill or am I not meant to bleed at all? Do I keep on taking it throughout my period? It probably sounds really silly, but I just need to know that this is not a sign that this pill isn't working properly! We conceived our first baby while on the pill and I'm a bit paranoid about it happening again! I really REALLY don't want another baby!

I was taking micronor before I had my son. The bleeding varies with each person, personally I had a period every 28 days, continued to take the pill everyday. Some done bleed at all, some every couple of months and sometimes more than once a month. I hope this helps even though there is no straightforward answer. Basically yes take it every day and yes you may bleed whilst taking it

I took a pop after first baby, and started taking it after first period (heavy). I had no more bleeding until 5/6 months old when baby was taking solids.

The next time I started it after my 6 wk check and had no bleeding until 6 months. Then it was fairly regular. After that, I went onto combined pill as it was more reliable.

I am back onto the pop pill after many years (you are not allowed cp if you have ever had aura migraines now!) and have had no period. However, I suspect I have had menopause, but cannot tell at the moment!

yes, take the pill every day regardless. I think most women bleed on progesterone only pills, but it can be quite irregular.
