Brexit

Wales to seek independence and join the EU

So according to this article, Wales want to seek independence and join the EU.

This is despite them overwhelmingly voting for LEAVE.

So joining the EU and breaking away from England now seems preferable to Brexit.

Surely, if that happens, you can't let this referendum stand as is?!

Tell me - why do you think the EU is undemocratic? Easy to state that (because that what others sprout) but difficult to actually back up.

So, I challenge you.

Tell me.

"the new European Dictatorship"

Do you even know what a dictatorship is? Will you go up to someone who has lived in an actual dictatorship and tell them the EU is one? I'd like to see the reaction you get?

"If anyone voted Leave on the basis of that, then they really were ill-informed."

A lot of people are ill-informed Sanity. Did you see the stories about "What is the EU?" being googled after the vote?

"No one on the leave side has ever said that £350m was going to the NHS "

and then

"The only time I have ever seen anything relating to £350m going to the NHS was a photo of Boris with it stated on a poster behind him"

Can't you see that you're contradicting yourself?

No one on the leave side has ever said that £350m was going to the NHS as far as I remember
It was painted on the side of a bus driven round the uk by vote leave

The 350 million, which most people looked in to by themselves (who believes a Tory anyway) was well known to be around about 160 million after deductions. Now this COULD be spent on the NHS, it could be spent on other projects too. That claim was at least based on proper, checkable figures.

The Governments claim however, that every family in the UK will be £4300 pounds worse off was also not true. The Treasury (goovernment biased) came up with those figures, however what they didn't say was the figures were based on purely estimated future sums, which many people pointed out were impossible to predict.

It's a shame Remainers keep forgetting that lie.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Wales voted leave so article obviously typical lovey media that just don't get it. The country voted LEAVE.
Suck it up.
EU is undemocratic and yes the people of the UK stood up to the new European Dictatorship ruled by Juncker.
Well done UK.
Remainers - you WILL be glad by the end of next week when they announce formally the European Defence Force and your dd's and ds's wont have to trudge off to the frontline against Russia . Just recall the pictures of the Somme and update them to recent pics of the Ukraine.

No one on the leave side has ever said that £350m was going to the NHS as far as I remember. They were quite clear that it was a gross figure and that the rebate needed to be taken off and then all the monies presently spent on subsidies and projects. the remainder would then be available to spend on things like the NHS. The only time I have ever seen anything relating to £350m going to the NHS was a photo of Boris with it stated on a poster behind him. Plainly that is wrong and someone at the leave campaign HQ should answer to that but so should Boris for letting it be seen.
It was Nigel Farage who was asked about it in an interview after the referendum and he said he wouldn't have put the poster up. I also don't remember anyone from the leave campaign stating that they would 'guarantee money to the NHS. No one ever said the whole of the leave campaign was a big bunch of lies, only the disgruntled remainers. Have a reasoned argument for a change please.

The "NHS pledge" was well and truly debunked during the campaign. If anyone voted Leave on the basis of that, then they really were ill-informed.

The leavers have said they will guarantee funding in Wales till 2020.

What, personally? They certainly didn't have any authority to speak for the UK government.

"I don't think they are liars"

What? They backtracked on the NHS pledge just 1 hour after the referendum result!

The leave campaign said they would continue to fund projects/area etc.

The Leave campaign said a lot of things... And what happens if Theresa May becomes PM? She didn't promise anything. She wouldn't have to honour Nigel and Boris's babbling, it was nothing to do with her.

I know they're not Waitrose but I don't think they are liars. I do believe that this is what they feel would be the best way to go and I'm getting more than a little feed up with being called a fool and other derogatory things on many threads when I mention what I have read.
And no I know little of Welsh politics I'm Scottish.

Corcory I don't think the leave campaign were in a position to guarantee those kinds of figures.

"I already know a few people who have said they have no interest in visiting Wales (or Cornwall) as a tourist destination as they are concerned about their apparent hostility to outsiders."

Quite ironic if you're talking about English people, as this vote had nothing to do with that and, in fact, a small majority voted for even more English rule than before.
On the other hand, the most beautiful area in my opinion in Snowdonia, where the people voted to Remain.

"This doesn't make me a 'fool' to think that the leaver's who won wouldn't honour their pledge to fund current EU projects till 2020."

Do you live in Wales Corcory? Have you followed debates on how Wales is funded in the past?

A promise to guarantee funding for for years? Oh well, the Welsh can relax. Four years is like close to forever.

Loving the notion that the Scottish first minister is powerful enough to charge wales' mind on brexit. Maybe we should get her phoning England too. Nah, on second thoughts, scratch that.

Leanne Wood is a politician, her attractiveness has nothing to do with what's going on. She is not a TOWIE cast member.

Wales have seriously scored an own goal. I already know a few people who have said they have no interest in visiting Wales (or Cornwall) as a tourist destination as they are concerned about their apparent hostility to outsiders.

Just

Leanne Wood is not unattractive (although not my age range) which makes the voice more appealing.

Nicola Sturgeon I have a lot of respect for as a speaker, debater and an intelligent woman, even if I disagree with some of what she says.

The voice and appeal factor....... 'No Comment' Grin
