David Cameron is getting really desperate now, his latest claims is that ISIS back Brexit! Seems the WW3 claims didn't work. Seems to be ISIS would support the EU because they have completely opened borders to them & let them move freely around Europe to commit attacks e.g. Paris & Brussels

"It could explain why European Intelligence services don't work so well if they are negotiating treaties instead of doing their job!"

You think that when we are negotiating intelligence sharing treaties with other countries we DON'T have people from the intelligence services there in the room. Or worse still, that we SHOULDN'T?

Just stand back and think about that. Just for a minute.

When I refer to the Treaties, I mean as per Lisbon. Most intelligence treaties are either well established and long running such as the UKUSA agreements, or bi-lateral, in which case yes, there will be senior intel bods there. They won't be major political EU treaties though, which is what I was referring to, as were you.

Neither will you have those who do the actual intelligence gathering at the meetings, more the director level, who direct policy, and are well versed in the politics, as opposed to being at the coal face, as in any large organisation.

Firstly, we were talking about intelligence gathering, so those were the treaties I meant.

Secondly, if you drag directors away from any organisation to be involved with agreeing treaties with up to 27 different countries, that leaves them very little time for, well, directing.

To be honest, I don't work for the intelligence gathering community but in any company dragging away the CEO and his ET for this sort of major stuff means poorer performance.

I think the broader point here is that security is not as simple as "controlling borders", which the UK already does anyway.

The most important thing is information. Now would Brexit improve the quality of information available about entrants? I'm not a specialist either, but from what I've read here and there, it's really not clear that it would.
