Buy to Let property - homeless Mother

So my (relatively) elderly mother has gone & sold her property without ensuring she had somewhere to move to.

The property she intended to buy fell through and now as she's desperate she's looking at part buy part rent. Has anybody had experience with these?

Is it a good idea for her & if we're stuck with the property when she eventually goes in the future, what are the implications?

She'd be better to rent than to part-buy. I don't know how elderly your Dm is, but have heard of difficulties selling such co-owned properties.

Is it a housing association property though? The rents are so much cheaper than market prices that it's almost a buy yourself into social housing scheme in which case it might be worth investigating.
