I didn't realise we men had our own section, although it doesn't look very well used in comparison. I assume there's nothing wrong with posting in the general sections but is there a specific reason to post here too?

On the longevity of the 'pause button' in DN, it reminds me of a story about a Chinese diplomat visiting London for a cultural exchange meeting. A journo asked him what he thought of the effects of the French Revolution on western culture. He thought about it for a short while, and eventually answered "It's too early to tell."

That's DN. Grin

Yes Doctrine, where else on the interweb do you get that much thought pause? It's great!

Island - you'll find BB's rolling footie thread in the Sports section. I committed an act of heresy this season by taking it out of DN. Really, all are welcome and it's about footie wherever and how ever it's played. There;s even room for the Villah! though they are about to be pasted by the crown princes . In fact I'm hosting the son of a MNer for the day, we are all Reds of course.Grin

Yeah, sometimes people pause for months of thought on Dadsnet Grin

Report
IslandMoose · 13/12/2013 17:34

Agreed. The majority of the posts give the impression that some level of pause for thought has been given before fingers are put to keyboard. That applies to Dadsnet posters of both genders, of course.

I note you made a reference to a rolling football thread - I will search for it. Feeling positive about the Villa on the weekend?

Yep, supportive and a bit challenging at times, in polite ways. It's the way we like it, seems to be.

I've always liked Dadsnet - I find it supportive, non-judgemental and blessedly free from hyperbole. I also have a weakness for battered green leather upholstery and the smell of freshly-ironed newspapers ...

Any time is acceptable for civilised activity like that. The trickier question is when I can start drinking enough to shit myself.

What time is acceptable to put on ones PJs and imbibe of a thimble full of Harveys Bristol Cream?

Life was so simple before I found Mumsnet. Now I don't know if my whole life has been one of etiqutte faux pas!

oh lordy.

yes there is an inherent bias, but that shouldn't be a shock? Some folk are better at typing than they are at thinking, but that just across the board irrespective of anything.

Militant man-hating harpies?
No man should talk to any woman?

I can across Mumsnet quite recently while looking up reviews for Achica (I didn't buy anything)!
I do find some of the threads very interesting but don't post often.

I got caught browsing it at work the other day and had to pretend it came up while googling 'fishnets for mums' ;-)

I did learn yest that no adult male should ever talk to a female of any age group that they do not know as you will be reagrded as a potential rapist which, being honest, has made me think twice about engaging in chit chat with anyone of the opposite sex.

Good site though.

Even mumsnet headquarters dont think dadsnet is fit for purpose.
They were thinking about bringing out a dadsnet along the lines of mumsnet. Dont know whether they are still thinking about it or not.

Post anywhere you like Grin i think it's good to have a 'dadsnet',hopefully it's a place you can discuss your issues without having the militant man-hating harpies descend on you or being inundated with responses from loads of women who only look at things from a womans point of view.

I've read some posts in the general section from men and
the attitude towards them was disgusting....and i know if it was a woman posting the same the attitude would have been so much more sympathetic and helpful.

Given there's a World Cup 2010 topic and a Cakes and Bakes topics and a MumsNOT topic, a Pipe Tapping Dadsnet topic seems fair enough.
