Hello all!
Where to start! I'd like to write a book about my cancer story - I was wondering about putting it on the Amazon story selling self publishing section. Has anyone got any tips or advice on where to start. Obviously writing it will be ok - but it's the other bits!
Also can I include pictures?

I've published a couple, and for me the hardest part is formatting to Kindle spec, but you can pay a company to do this ($50 or similar).

Reedsy is a fantastic place to find the professionals you will need to support you once you've written it:

You might also want to read Rachael Herron's "Fast Draft Your Memoir" -- only £1.99 on Kindle, but full of excellent advice from first draft through to publication.

Good luck and enjoy the journey!

You could take a look at the Alliance of Independent Authors
www.allianceindependentauthors.org/

They offer loads of advice, although mainly to paid-up members. They also sell a guidebook for people looking to self-publish.

Jane Friedman's blog has also got lots of helpful advice
www.janefriedman.com/blog/

Bear in mind you can't do it alone - you'll need an editor and a cover designer, at the very least.

Good luck!

Again, just write it...if you're happy working in Word that's the best option.

Don't worry about photos or anything else yet. Get writing.

Thank you- sorry if that bit sounded like it would be 'easy' to write it- that's just meant to mean I know how to write it as such hehe - just the afterpart-
Can I include photos on kindle?
Also is it just a word document? X

Worry about all that when you've written it WoWsers.

Writing first...then marketing and so forth.

You say "Obviously writing it will be ok" but that's the hardest part! The other things you can learn by watching a few videos on YouTube or reading a few blogs about self-publishing.
