I love writing poems and short story's but need to take it to the next step but life gets in the way... When do you guys find time to write? I have two children (one of each both at school!) and another on the way!

I have done all of below:
In the evenings, instead of TV.
In school holidays with CBeebies on full blast in background if at home(20 minute chunks-not ideal but you get used to it). This is after having assuaged guilt by taking them out somewhere.
Lunch break at work.
A week of annual leave from work here and there for uninterrupted big chunks.
Weekends with partner looking after kids.
In the morning on tablet in bed before getting up.

You find a way if you enjoy what you're writing. Good luck Smile

I have never used a laptop-it's all on pages in mini iPad-easily portable and can take notes or do short bursts of writing with ease...(or faff around on the Internet doing 'research')

I only managed to write once my children were in pre school. I can only write at a desktop, although I am in the process of setting up a laptop.

Are you writing in the hope of publication or just for your own satisfaction?

Not quite sure I've had the idea for a trilogy for a while but it will require time and planning!

Go for it booked! Get stuck in and see where your pen takes you.

I recommend getting used to writing in bursts, rather than waiting for large chunks of time.

If you can work effectively during the small chunks of a day, you can make enormous headway.

I now have the luxury of plenty of writing time, but at the start of my career I just made do as and when. And I think it made me very efficient. I still plan/research/ write on journeys, in wiating rooms etc. Habit, I guess.

Good advice from GetAHairCut. I certainly recommend actually writing rather than waiting to write.
