Go to social services. They will top up your gas and electric and give you basic food. Do you have a local salvation army?

How about an office cleaning job in the evenings? Or is hubby out? Or ask locally or advertise in shops for cleaning for the elderly? They always need help around the home and pay cash even if it a tenner for an hours cleaning , they appreciate the company too , I can't at the mo as have baby at home but I used to do a weekly clean once a week for a lovely lady and that topped up my shopping money.

Its so so hard , I know how you feel , I'm no way near as bad as you as my mum can help me out a bit but she is in the same position!but my bills are now above what I have coming in ! I do have gas but I only put it on in the evening and first thing am , if its too cold inside I dress up warm and go for a march round the block then when I get back I've warmed up and the house feels warmer too !

ive had food bank vouchers a few weeks ago and she was funny about giving us them then .i think maybe we will just have to wait until either that goes in or partners payday friday then i can do a shop n get gas so cold today and i cant stop sneezing lol getting on my nerves foods more or less run out now so its just a case of getting through it all until friday or before if that money goes in .really fed up today

couldnt find anything sell either so thats making it worse i give a lot away to surestart etc not to long ago wish i hadnt now :( xx

still looking through the house if theres anything i can sell cant really find anything at the moment think the problem is my son doesnt have much clothes and when the smaller ones didnt fit him i donated some of them to sure start for some one in a similar position as my self will keep looking though

as for the bank charges ive tried speaking to people but its not out of benefits theyve taken them its out of my partners wage and theyve only ever refunded me twice and then when they did that took a day or 2 but there saying they wont refund any others as there not out of benefits not sure if maybe cab can help me with that ,spoke to tax credits again today and at some point this week it will go in the bank apparantly they cant givre a date .child benefit is due in friday with partners wage .

its come to the point now we have no gas on,and what food we can do in the micro that we bought and toast etc is nearly run out weve not been eating just making sure our son gets enough which is the way it should be cant wait until this is all sorted feel terrible with it all today xx

I used to work for the collections dept at the bank and I know that banks are not allowed to take charges from benefits and are not allowed to take charges where the money left will leave you below the minimum set out by the government as an amount needed to live off (roughly the same as JSA) hope that helps because you can get charges refunded if they were taken from benefits

Clothes are likely to sell well on FB selling pages (and there's no fee).

I've raised quick easy cash this way.

Good luck.

Evening. We're just popping in to post our usual warning, as we would on any thread of this kind:

"We do advise all our members to be aware that not everyone on t'internet is who they say they are, and that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare."

Electricity, gas and water companies all have hardship grants so ring them up or check their website.

Have you contacted your mp / councillor? There might be charities giving hardship grants in your area and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Do you have anything you could sell on ebay/car boot?

If your son has grown out of any clothes, sell them as bundles. You can also ebay old toys, get a good price as it's near Xmas.

Good luck for your interview!!

hi im in the northwest .we managed to get a bit of food out of fridays wages the thing is without working tax credits sorting this out housing benefit wont assess us if were entitled to help with rent and council tax so stupid its unreal.i no ive said exactly the same thing im just worrying xmas is getting closer but surely to god it will be sorted by then and crisis loans of the dwp in there eyes its not a crisis as we do get partners wage but its anywere from £150 to £250 a a week and thats only if hes in the 6 days hes on agency so can be told not to come in for as many days as they need to unfortunately he has a great boss who does try and make sure he gets the hours and if theres overtime he now offers it straight to my oh.

sounds mad but we actually dont have many freinds and none that can help us and our family we dont speak to ohs family long story but there horrible people and mine well there in the same boat just about surviving at the moment i guess everyone is in the same boat though atm xx

What area are you in? Someone on here will bring you food I know it.

Sorry to hear you're being messed around. They make me sick, all smug in their warm houses with fully stocked fridges no doubt. Makes my blood boil Angry

Won't any of your friends help out?
