Covid

Who has had anti-virals (sotrovimab) and what happened next?

Started feeling unwell last Saturday (cold symptoms). Tested negative on four consecutive days, despite getting progressively worse with classic omicron symptoms, then positive test on Wednesday. I have MS and had been told I was eligible for antivirals. Very impressively this was arranged and administered within 24 hours of my positive test.

Just wondering who else has had this and what happened next.

@OvertiredandConfused no he didn't, but he didn't feel.ill.in the first place. I think the same happened to Joe Biden!

@OvertiredandConfused thanks, I’m waiting for a call to arrange the antivirals. Glad you’re feeling a bit better

I’ve tested negative today. Still feel a bit rough and definitely have cold symptoms, but much better than I did on Wednesday and Thursday. I haven’t slept during the day today.

@Dizzywizz I recommend trying to get the antivirals, I’m sure they made a big difference.

@Cookerhood interesting your DH went positive again. Did he feel worse again? Not sure I want to repeat test! I’ve had a minor op postponed - have to be 7 weeks clear.

Hope you’re feeling ok @OvertiredandConfused . I have just tested positive (symptoms from Tuesday but negative until today), I have MS too.

DH tested negative after 5 days on the antivirals & he did then go positive again a few days later, which I don't think is unusual. In fact he was still testing positive on PCR almost 3 months later. However he had a very mild illness, no idea what it would have been like without the antivirals.

My CEV friend got them when we had Covid at the same time. She had almost no symptoms and it cleared very quickly. I was a little more unwell but not too bad.

My dh had paxlovid they worked really well within a couple of doses he was symptom free and testing negative on day 5, he is immunosuppressed and was really poorly before the antivirals, I honestly think if they gave them to everyone over 50 who tested positive they would save the NHS a fortune on admissions as well as saving lives.

Thanks.

I just wondered how covid progressed, how long people were sick, how sick, when they tested negative. The infusion centre couldn’t answer any of those questions and I’m curious.

I had covid about a year ago and, although I avoided hospital I was really quite unwell. Off work for 4 weeks completely and another 2 weeks phased return. Even the idea of coughing like that again is distressing!

DH had oral anti virals which I think is different, but what do you mean, what happened next? He just got very mild Covid, if that's what you mean. I don't think there was any follow up or anything as it wasn't needed.
