My husband and me have both come down with a cough. And hes got a bit of a temperature so we've arranged to get two tests done tomorrow.. the problem is we have a 3 month old baby and we are running very low on formula. I got paid today so the plan was to nip to asda or tesco like we usually do on payday and top up. Obviously we may not have covid but we are trying to follow the guidance. We have no immediate family in the area and no friends who drive or live this way. No delivery slots at any of the supermarkets. Looked on deliveroo and ubereats and for starters the delivery fee is at least 4 pound, I know its not a lot but when your husband is furloughed again and im on maternity every penny counts but also the milk is an extra four pound. Its 8 pound for cow and gate in the supermarket, 12 pound on the deliveroo supermarkets. Im not here to complain and im not here to start a debate. I just dont know what to do. Me and my husband have food in. But my little girl has hardly any. Please don't slate me for running low on milk. Were leaving payday to payday as it is.

@lemons1571 exactly! I read the government guidelines today about 4 times and It all seems so vague. I dont want to just go out for a bit of casual shopping, I want to feed my child. I get paid weekly so every Friday we go get formula milk. I've put a post on Facebook but it just feels a bit weird. Maybe I'm overthinking it

@Lemons1571 I took some shopping for someone who was desperate back in March. They paid me by bank transfer when I dropped it off.

How do you pay strangers who drop off groceries for you? Do strangers really stump up in advance and then you do a bank transfer or something?

Also, isn’t it still legal to go to the shops in this circumstance? I thought it was only illegal if you have a positive test or if T&T instruct you to isolate, and neither of those things has happened yet, Yes it’s against the guidance, but if no one will / can help then surely you can’t just let a baby starve??

I honestly don't know why I didn't think of Facebook. Ill pop a post up and check my local councils page. Be nice if this cough had come tomorrow instead 😂😂

Your council should have a Covid helpline, and they will be able to signpost you to volunteers who will shop for you

Where do you live OP?
Like pp said. Almost everywhere in the UK has some form of support network in Facebook. I’m sure nobody would mind dropping your formula off for you.

Ask on your local Facebook group. Explain the situation and someone will drop some round to you. Your local council should have a helpline too for people who need support with Covid related issues.
