The effect of schools staying open on people's compliance

I DO NOT want schools to close. I'm happy to send my kids in and will continue to do so.

But, the amount of times I hear, or read on here, "well if they sit at school together all day then they can do x y z outside of school" or "my child is mixing with x amount of people five days a week so what's the point of following the rules?"

Basically that if schools are still open then it's not really a "lockdown" and not everyone will take it seriously.

@Lavenderseas no they don’t. People seem to think it’s all or nothing, rather then certain things need to remain open and so we need to minimise other contacts.

“My kids in a class with 29 other kids so I don’t see what mixing with my family matters”. Well the issue is if everyone takes that view and mixes with just one other household then suddenly you have 60 families at risk of being infected if one person gets it rather then 30.

@Lavenderseas

my child is mixing with x amount of people five days a week so what's the point of following the rules?

That's exactly WHY they need to reduce the transmission OUTSIDE of schools. So THAT they can remain open.

Do people really don't get that Shock

No I don't think some people do get that sadly Sad

Do people honestly don't understand that we're locking down parts of our society so that hospitals and a can remain open?

This is what France, Germany and many other countries are doing. I thought it was obvious Confused

That doesn’t apply here.

Precisely OP, and as a teacher I feel like there’s little point me following any ‘rules’ especially when my welfare is very far down the list of government concerns.

I’m among those who don’t see the point if I’m forced to allow my children to mix in school.

But I have complied with the Welsh lockdown. I have driven to exercise but otherwise have complied.

I do not want schools to close either.

So we will follow the lockdown rules and not meet others socially in order for schools to stay open.

You're absolutely right OP.

I will comply and make sacrifices SO THAT schools and hospitals can stay open.
