@Whatever9999 im in a similar situation. We are in Essex (just) and will be very annoyed. Our Rate per 100k is N/A because it's so low.

@ILookAtTheFloor

I've read that the mass (I should I say 'community') testing is due to be offered to schools in Basildon.

Any tier changes would be on 16th but I think there would be a lot of anger from many Essex MPs if the whole of Essex becomes tier 3.

I’ve volunteered to take a role in community testing as they need people to help. Doesn’t look like my job interview last week was successful so I’m still going to be out of work .
I’’m really hoping there will be no more Tier changes, so unfair on areas where the cases are very low.

Ffs I will be far less impressed if North Essex is once more lumped in with South. We are a very different area, rural rather than urban and where I am the numbers are currently 55/100000 that is less than 1/3 national average.

Only Basildon and Harlow have cases above 200 per 100,000 at the moment. Would seem really unfair to move the whole of Essex to tier 3 when many areas have much lower rates but I guess that’s what happened in Kent.

I fucking hope not.

I stress - a rumour. But has anyone else heard anything similar?

I've heard rumour today we might go to tier 3.

I'm in Basildon, both DS Andi have as COVID. DS picked it up in college, the whole area are seems to have high levels despite lockdown. However they seem to be school/college driven as lots of schools locally have had to close due to students testing positive.

My self isolation is over on Thursday and I can't wait.

@MercyBooth - all good here. Itching to get in the gym and go out to eat tomorrow.

To be frank I don't look anymore as the 'worst' for me happened already--the lockdown.

I'll start looking and worrying again when lockdown 3.0 is on the cards!

Yes, I keep looking at Basildon and Brentwood and worrying. Everywhere else was looking quite favourable last time I looked.

Looking forward to my daughters' dance classes, back on Friday 😁

I see Basildon is now in the top 20 areas for infections per 100k in England. Let's hope we don't get moved to Tier 3! I don't live in that district but it appears that tiers are county level only 😑

So how are my fellow Essex dwellers getting along?

Report
MercyBooth · 02/11/2020 02:05

No wonder there was no review. They knew they were going to do this second lockdown

Report
IrkedEssex · 28/10/2020 18:22

@Pertella - no, it is indeed not good either way. Also, ECC says it will be reviewing every 4 weeks when the law actually states that Matt Hancock must review every 2 weeks.

Report
Pertella · 28/10/2020 18:16

David Finch is trying to claim ECC had no idea that they would get financial support for going into tier 2 Hmm

Either he is lying, or incompetent and there was not even the most basic impact assessment made.

Not good either way really, is it?

Questions being asked about why we are in tier 2

Essex Covid: The Essex town in a Tier 2 lockdown despite being in lowest 5% for infection rates
The infection rate for every Essex town has been revealed according to the latest government data.
One Essex town sits in the bottom five percent of English local authorities for infection rates - but remains under Tier Two restrcitions.

Braintree currently sits in the bottom 20 local authorities for infection rates in the whole of the country.

The data released by the government shows the rolling seven-day rate of new cases of Covid-19 in every local authority area in England.

The figures, which look at the seven days up to October 23, are based on tests carried out in laboratories and in the wider community.

While Blackburn with Darwen has the highest rate in England, with 1,176 new cases recorded in seven days, Braintree has only recorded 78 cases in the same period.

Braintree's infection rate has been recorded as 51.1 cases per 100,000, making it one of the towns with the lowest infection rates across England.

On the other end of the spectrum, the local authority of Thurrock has recorded the highest number of new cases in the county over the same seven days, with 287 people testing positive - the equivalent of 164.6 cases per 100,000 people.

Brentwood just tips Thurrock in terms of the highest rate of infection with 170.1 cases of coronavirus every 100,000 people.

While areas like Thurrock remain in Tier One, Braintree is under Tier Two restrictions as it sits in the Essex County Council region

The list of cases and infection rates for every Essex town are listed below.

From left to right, it reads the name of local authority, the rate of new cases in the seven days to October 23, number (in brackets) of new cases recorded in the seven days to October 23, the rate of new cases in the seven days to October 16 and number (in brackets) of new cases recorded in the seven days to October 16.
