Just wondering how many people are still in lockdown, not going out at all. Is this because you are still shielding?

I’m in a north east coastal town. We have three parks and a country park all a 5 min drive from where I live. The beaches, marina and harbour again are 5-10 minutes.
The council in their wisdom closed the car parks but covered up the parking machines, so everyone parked for free on the roads. Lol. We have a long prom so easy to stay apart and a huge beach . At first everything was closed but gradually the fish and chip shops and Ice cream parlour opened for take away..its boomed in the nice weather.
There’s a pub opened as well.
We have a lovely modern covered in shopping centre. Not a lot of shops but it’s light and airy ,spotlessly clean and somewhere to go on a wet day. The post office/ smiths , Halifax, Poundland, wilkinsons, h and b, savers, Iceland, boots and b and m Have been open throughout, so that with a weekly visit to aldi has meant we’ve swerved all the big supermarkets.

Just 15 miles away there’s a gorgeous country park, with lots of ponds, plenty of wild life. It’s kept us going.
We’ve had plenty of drives up to durham where there’s a nice walk and you can reward yourself with an indian picnic at the end of it. There’s a restaurant doing takeaway and we set up the picnic table in the car park

Once the National Forest opened about 35 miles away , days out seemed a lot normal. Lots of lovely Walking trailS, bluebell woods, a field of cowslips, and amazing trees.
Also had lots of drives up the coast. Seaham is stunning. It’s had several takeaways open and some car parks.
Down the coast we’ve been to saltburn, staithes, Sandsend and whitby
That was a lovely day out.
We didn’t go out every day. If it was nice we sat outside, but I only have a bit of decking no garden.
We’ve been well, we’ve been sensible. All good for considering what’s gone on.

other people have clearly given up on the concept of social distancing - family groups who insist on walking side by side on pavements, or families cycling on pavements

That has been the case all along, it's not new and has been annoying all along. I do wonder what these joined at the hip couples do when they need the loo as they can't even walk single file for 3 seconds while someone passes them.

Nice to find my people here. I am at moderate risk due to an underactive thyroid (I catch every virus under the sun). I only go out for a 15 min walk each day (and once a week I take the car out for 15 mins to stop the battery going flat). That's it. No socially distanced walks with friends, no bubbles, just me on my tod for three months and counting. I'm WFH and relying on Ocado for food. The situation is pretty shit TBH.

Shielding here because DH has COPD (industrial injury, not smoking-related) and other co-morbidities that make him extremely clinically vulnerable. Only been out for medical appointments. The easing of lockdown seems to have been interpreted as "everyone back to normal!" round here, so it seems safer to stay inside. We are lucky enough to have a garden so can at least get some fresh air. I do worry that we're bcoming institutionalised though!

@ThunderCrack IMO Boris couldn't find his way out of a wet paper bag never mind lockdown. I'm ready to go back to work now, my boss has far more than adequate safety measures in place, but if the government say shielding must continue, my employer (large corporate) are likely to say I cannot work.

I'm going out but not really unnecessarily - so for instance I didn't stand in the 2 hour queue for our local primark yesterday as I can online shop!

I'm happy to go into food shops etc, meeting up with friends for walks etc. I'm just not bothered about anything else...

I'm shielding because of chemo, but I have been across the road to the communal gardens - they are pretty quiet and it is nice just to get a little fresh air and have a gentle little walk. I'm actually more worried leaving and coming into our apartment block, as we have a communal stairwell and there are 8 flats in our building, so I'm worried about touching the bannister, door handles etc. But I put on some gloves and am being careful. Otherwise it is inside all day every day and it makes me feel like I might go completely mad!!

Everyone is different depending on there own circumstances.
Please speak to your consultant.

Some people have had the 12 week shielding advice, extended for another 12 weeks, till mid September.

I'm really starting to feel like we're being held hostage in Scotland @TheMurk ! The numbers in the community are so low, i really hope a lot of things are going to change in the review on Thursday. I wouldn't mind so much but so many people don't seem to be following the rules anyway, there's groups and people out not following social distancing, kids playing out from different households....
I've been for a run or walk every day, taken the car out to do this locally a few times and i've met someone else for a run or walk a couple of times but other than that there's not really anywhere to go. I've done my weekly supermarket shop by click & collect and picked up coffee / cake from local cafes that are doing takeaway. I also had to go to Boots a couple of times.

DH got the stay at home text from the NHS back in March. He & DS both have asthma. DH talked to his GP who said it was ok to keep working (he's a gardener) as long as he's careful. So he's been going to work. We've stayed away from shops until last week, having our food delivered. And have been doing long walks from home.

This week has been the first time we've gone "out". We booked to go to our local NT property. It was lovely, we had a picnic & we felt really safe & happy there. Starting to get back out & about now.

Diabetic but not shielding. Fortunate to be able to WFH and have main shopping delivered. Been out for good long walks at the weekends and popped to local shops a few times. That's been about it.

Very much looking forward to getting back out there.

Seeing some friends at a distance, joined my mil as a single person so she can hug and help out with ds.

Apart from that, lockdown is our new normal really. Dont want to go to shops. Get the odd takeaway delivery. Walks on weekends.

As a new mum, dh is working from home most days and I'm busy with the baby (no baby classes).

I go for my usual daily walk but nowhere to for me. Kids still all home schooling and I am working full time from home. My employer isn't planning to let us travel until at least September.

Saw a friend in her garden for a coffee at the weekend.

I don't normally go shopping as we do most of our shopping online, both food and clothes. I would go out for a meal or to the cinema or theatre but clearly those are still closed.

Tried to go to a national park but anything within 50 miles had all car parks booked so gave up.

I am shielding WFH PT and going out for exercise socially distant (live in a semi area with a few nice quiet walks from doorstep). We get deliveries from Morrisons and local butchers. Not in a hurry to go shopping, into town or back to the office (place of work fortunately still closed).
This has only really been tolerable as teen kids not going out to school, DH working from home and because we have a garden and the weather has been nice for much of the time.
I am dreading the autumn/winter.

I’ve followed the guidance all along - nobody in this house is shielding. So every time they have lifted a restriction, i have taken advantage of that fact.
Apart from going to the shops this week - but that’s more because I hate to queue

Still WFH though for the foreseeable. DS is back in nursery and DH is going back into his office next week.

I have bad social anxiety and the only places I want to go aren't allowed to open yet.
I probably would go out if someone was with me, but apparently I'm not important enough for any of my family to "bubble" with

I'm basically doing the same as I was at the start of lockdown. Just a bit more often. Actually maybe going to shops less as getting deliveries now. But going on walks or cycles a little more often. Eg more likely to take a short walk on a week day after work now. I'll sit in the park now too.

I'm sure lots of people are the same but we dont notice that.

Shielding here although have been going out for "socially distant" (or rather totally distant) walks since day 1 as have a toddler and no garden. Fortunate to live in a quiet rural town with accessible countryside literally on the doorstep. Once a week shopping delivery with a very kind volunteer from the RBL getting prescriptions for me.

I wish BoJo would hurry up and give an update on the shielding plan, as we're due back to work/nursery in 2 weeks...

We’re going for walks and now in a bubble. But we went out to a nearby park on Sunday and it was like there was nothing going on, no social distancing, big groups, a coffee stand with people going right up and leaning on the counter to chat to the server. We couldn’t social distance at all either so just tried to move quickly last people. I’m sticking to my village from now on! I had been thinkingabout visiting a zoo but don’t fancy an entire day shoulder to shoulder with people!

Supported businesses that are open etc been for some lovely drives out On quiet roads
I keep saying to him it’s what driving was like in the 70s when I first learned.

We made the decision that when we look back On this time, it will be that we lived through it, not just existed.

Our beaches have been stunning in this gorgeous weather we’ve had, the forests and country parks just beautiful.
We’ve enjoyed seeing the wildlife showing off their babies.
Really I feel I ought to thank you all for staying away as it’s been a wonderful experience for us both but I don’t want to sound like smuggy

It’s been a horrible time but our beautiful country has had something magical about it while it’s been so quiet.

Everytime we go out now, it’s getting more and more back to normal.
I drove the hour or so to our caravan the other day, and it was lovely to sit on our balcony and enjoy the peace and quiet.
We live in such a beautiful country,
