Dominic Cummings is a Lazy Dad

Or whatever the resident version of a Disney Dad is. You know when you meet a female friend for a lunch/hen do or whatever and her partner has always ALWAYS gone to stay with his mum or dropped the kids off with his sister so he can play golf? What’s that called?

Because that’s what really happened here, isn’t it? He scuttled out in a panic from Downing St not because he was scared he had Covid, but because his wife was ill and he was scared he’d have to do 7-14 days of parenting shitwork.

So he did what he always does and planned to palm his child off on a female relative. The fact he subsequently fell ill is neither here nor there. If his wife had been the sicker one, you can bet the sister/mother would have been called upon for childcare. Because he was the sicker one and his wife merely a bit poorly, they (she) apparently soldiered on.

So now all the public health messaging has been fatally undermined, along with (whatever was left of) the integrity of most of the cabinet - all because he couldn’t be arsed to build a bit of Lego or even just plonk the child in front of Paw Patrol with some crisps for a couple of days.

Twat.

I would agree with you OP apart from the "funny coincidence" of his mother's 71st and his wife's 45th at that time. I think that most of us would have asked for someone to come and stay rather than move our family ourselves, wouldn't we?

Hey......not so hard on 'men'.

Cummings and Johnson are not representative of the male sex.

They are representative of 'entitlement' / 'over-ambition' / 'arrogance' / 'ignorance' …… Not exclusively male traits but poor qualities exhibited by many in public life these days.

I mean ….. take Priti Patel ……

I rest my case.

Her writing that article and the Radio 4 thing about praying for him all sound a little...odd. If she posted here that she'd had to do that to protect his career, she'd have got some interesting replies.

Reminds me of when men saying “I’m minding the kids tonight “. No, what you’re doing is looking after your own children, like parents do.

Ha! Hadn’t thought of that before. But you’re right. He didn’t want to do the wifework.

When I read read MW's article about him rushing home to "look after" her then becoming the one that needed looking after, I did think: So he's one of those men.Hmm

Men, letting people down since the Stone Age ( I live with three of them!)
No, they are coming out of this looking really bad. Boris in particular although it's hard to know his thoughts at the moment as his disappeared.

Men are really not coming out of lockdown well. DC behaving like an arse, Niall Ferguson shagging his mistress, Neil Gaiman breaking lockdown internationally and leaving his kid behind.......

Ahh , I thought Nigel was laughing as he put the boot in today on the radio.
He even tried to talk the odd supporter around that called in and defended Steve Kinnock too!! He must really really dislike Dom.

I thought exactly the same thing. Fancy being so inept and scared of parenting that you feel you have to drive to the other end of the country rather than look after your child without your wife’s help. It’s shameful and embarrassing. The whole thing makes me cringe for that family. Poor child as well - they’ll grow up hearing the story of how dad drove across the country to palm them off with relatives because he couldn’t stand the very thought of taking care of them by himself.

Possibly not just lazy

A great deal was made at the press conference yesterday of being left in his care as a safeguarding issue

Yes I definitely think palming the child off onto a female relative was one of the main reason they shot off up the A1. All the shopping and delivering of it was done by his sister and her daughter, are there no men available in that family to do the chores?
A journalist was reporting this morning that it was DC's father who contacted Durham Constabulary regarding DC being in Durham, so I guess the men are used for the big important jobs like speaking to the police 🤷‍♀️.

To the poster who mentioned Nigel Farage, apparently the hate each other and have had a few run ins over the years. NF was loving it this morning.

That was my first thought too. Being too inept to parent your own child is no excuse for breaking lockdown.

That is probably also why he took them to Barnard Castle over the weekend. What a thoughtful guy he is!!!

Making sure he continued their home education programme, unlike us inferior parents

A snake like Cummings would instinctively know the best way to flatter someone like trump should it be in his interest to do so.
However trump only likes people who are of lower intelligence than he is...that leaves a very small pool of people that trump can like🤣

He had footballs and bikes in his car along with the dressing gown of doom no doubt!
How staged was that yesterday?

I've never met him but he has a strange attitude that I find fascinating. It's arrogance personified. (Trump would love this guy. )

I forgot that Nigel Farage is the presenter on lbc on Sunday mornings : was about to switch it off but Cummings was the big news and even he couldn't defend him today!

Report
TW2013 · 24/05/2020 12:46

he was just doing the best for his family so that's ok.

And they were probably right his family are probably all too aware that when the dressing gown of doom goes on he will be of no use to anyone
