Did you have COVID-19? Or do you know someone who has/had the virus?

I don't know anyone to have had it and I just want to see if people on here had it and what is it like really?

I had it last month as did my DP and DS. It was so, so mild for us thankfully. People say this alot but we really have had worse colds. I also know absolutely loads of people who have had it, probably more than 50. All mild cases. I only know one person hospitalised. My friends dad in his 70s with COPD. He died unfortunately.

I know this is a zombie thread but if I'd read this when it was posted I would have said no. Since September I know personally around 30 people who have had it including my partner. One friend had it quite badly. She died. One has long covid. The rest were a mix of 'it was ok' to 'I thought I was dying' I wonder how the OP fared...

Me and DH had it over Christmas. He didnt get a test as he just thought he had a bit of a cold, he just had a sniffy nose for a few days. About 4 days later, I lost my smell and taste completely so I ordered a test which came back positive. Then I had a bad headache which lasted a few weeks and was extra tired.

Had it, was easy. I have had worse colds.

I'm 40, overweight, asthmatic and it lasted about 10 days and all I had was a minor temp for a few hours, wicked sore throat and the need to sleep. I once managed 14 hours of sleep, which as a chronic insomniac was bloody amazing Grin

I still managed to work from home, just a shame I had it over xmas.

I had it in December. I was absolutely exhausted, I kept falling asleep at work for two days which is most unlike me, I went off and got a test. None of the classic symptoms. I slept pretty much solidly for 3 days, moved to the couch on day 4 then by day 6 I felt absolutely fine. I've had no problems since then.

DH and I caught it off his work partner in January. We were both pretty ill with it for at least 2 weeks. Still got aches and fatigue even now. Most people my age I know who have had to continue working for whatever reason rather than being furloughed or able to work from home have caught it. Symptoms vary but a couple hospitalised.

I still don't know anyone personally who has had covid. One pupil in dds class had it but that's all.

I had a positive antibody test too but God knows when I had it.

I had a positive antibody test last summer so I must have had it - but I didn’t know that I had and nobody else in the house has been unwell. Neither dc has antibodies either - they’ve been in a clinical trial have both tested negative for antibodies 3 times,

I don't know anyone personally. But I know very few people. Just pil, Dh and I, kids, SIL and her family. Elderly father and his friends.

I don't know anyone at the school well enough as dd only started there last sept, she's never had to isolate. No one on Dh team at work.

We live in West Midlands, Dh work is in London, dad in London.

How do you now know anyone?! I think practically all my friends have & us 🙈 it ranged from asymptomatic to pretty unpleasant amongst us (ages 28-45) but no-one needed hospital.

In a blood test I was found to have the antibodies but don't know when I had it (no obvious symptoms that I can remember).

Report
CrunchyCarrot · 16/04/2021 18:30

Yes, but asymptomatically. I only know because I tested positive for antibodies later on. My partner had Covid and also had antibodies. I thought I had just not caught it but apparently I did.

You probably need to state you want to know only if the person tested positive...

I know quite a few who have had it. A nurse, a barber, hospital workers, a retail worker, one of the ladies I clean for.. and I know six who have died from it. You can probably guess.. I live near a certain racecourse.

My ds is a university student in a big city and we are quite sure he had it. He didn’t get much of a cough though at first. He was really unwell with a temp of 39.8 for three days and very sore throat and headache. He couldn’t do anything but sleep. He came back on the fourth day. This is before Corona was big news, around February. After he came back, my daughter then got a bad cough and temperature. I just had a three day mother of all migraines which I’ve never had before. Dh had nothing. One month later, ds developed a dry continuous cough and he still has it now. I wonder if it was covid and his immune system is still reacting to the initial infection.

My next door neighbour is in hospital just now with it and a few people in our area have died with it.

A friend tested positive a couple of weeks ago - he had fatigue and a dry cough but no fever and other than feeling generally run down (which he still does) didn’t feel especially unwell. His wife was also tested but was negative and has had no symptoms at all despite them both living in a one bedroom flat with no ability to isolate from each other.

A couple of other friends have had more typical Coronavirus symptoms including fever but recovered in about a week. Not tested, though.

I don’t know. Ds & I had something, cough that lasted nearly 3 weeks, tiredness, and my asthma was bad for a couple of weeks (I hadn’t had a new inhaler for two years) but we weren’t tested and the dr said Ds had a minor chest infection.

His symptoms started during half term a couple of days after he’d been to London on the train.

A colleague of dh’s was very poorly the week of lockdown but again he wasn’t tested and they wouldn’t take him into hospital despite severe breathing difficulties.

Another colleague of dh’s had a neighbour who died. A friend of dh’s has had it and tested positive and an elderly neighbour told me that her friend has died.

And my Dd did an online college class with an actress who has had it. She caught it from her husband who caught it from the cast member of a West End show who tested positive.

My MIL has tested positive. Had the test as is a carer of the elderley in care home. She has no symptoms what so ever yet. Will be interesting to see if she does. She was tested last thursday and feels fine. She is early 60s. Good health but on blood pressure tablets.
