Why are Royal Mail agreeing to deliver poisonous propaganda

At any time, let alone when their service is currently so abysmal.

I do not wish to receive disgusting American propaganda delivered by the postman - but I expect RM have been paid well enough to deliver it.

Does our mail service have no standards?

Epoch Times/Falun Gong are literally analogous to your right wing but job uncle who loves Trump.

1 got one of these today - not in an envelope and no address on it.

Does anyone have a UK address to return it to - postage unpaid of course!

Of course it is propaganda, just clearly not in favour of the CCP. Lol. They must have a heck of a budget if an American organisation is delivering propaganda materials to UK residents.
And, of course, RM can deliver it. What you choose to do with it, is up to you.

Post office workers wouldn't deliver the Sun propaganda in Liverpool

Sorry, but that is wrong, even with the sensitive reasons behind it. The mail service is there to deliver mail, not to decide what should and should not be read.

Slightly charged language. But don't see how it is dangerous or factually incorrect.

Thanks op.
Without this thread i would never have watched this film on the CCP. Highly recommended

Royal Mail is legally obliged to deliver anything that has postage paid, unless it qualifies as obscene publications etc. They can’t choose what they deliver.
They even have to deliver competitors mail in some cases.

Write RTS across the item and send it back.

Report
bakedbeanzontoast · 29/04/2020 04:46

Probably because they are getting paid to deliver it. Just stick it in recycling.

This is to prime people up for an attempt to sue trillions from China... a last ditch attempt of heavily indebted and demographically weak Western governments to shore up their collapse.

I wouldn't want to receive it either, but I'd rather receive it than live somewhere where the postal service refuses to deliver political messages they disagree with.

For those of you saying RM has no responsibility for what it sends I'm afraid you are wrong.

RM have a very large list of prohibited items including (for example) obscene publications and unlawful indecent images.

In which case it would be the legal responsibility of the person who posted it, surely? RM isn't going to open and examine all mail to make sure it doesn't contain illegal written material.

Report
UnderTheIroningBoard · 29/04/2020 03:14

The account manager at RM should be fucking fired for this
Why on earth? RM should just deliver what people post. It's not for them to decide what should and should not be delivered, within the limits of the law.
Imagine if they decided not to deliver party election material because they didn't agree with labour/The Tories/The Lib Dems/UKIP/any other party.

Whatever RM as a company do or don't have the responsibility for, it's the postal workers to have to collate and deliver it all.

They would rather do their workers out of the work they do on Saturdays than completely remove unnecessary, non time sensitive, mass malings from their work load.

The Epoch Times is a free magazine published by the Falun Gong movement. They are a Chinese spiritual/meditation movement and have been horribly persecuted by the Chinese government. As a result, they publish a lot of anti-government information and are quite critical of the communist party. They are a bit wacky, but more like your crazy hippy auntie who does Tai Chi and less like your right wing nut job uncle who loves Trump. I couldn’t get worried up about this. I a little bit hope we got one too now because I’m curious.

Report
FlamingoAndJohn · 28/04/2020 22:55

No - this was not in an envelope (as already stated). The photo was of the back of the magazine which had the address on it.

But even so it still isn’t up to Royal Mail to decide if they should deliver it or not. They don’t know that you haven’t requested it. It’s not their place to decide.
What if there was a political party you agreed with who decided to post stuff out like this but Royal Mail decided they didn’t like it so refused to post it?

Oh I wish I had one of these. My parrot needs something new to poop on.

Seriously, RM deliver what they are paid to, it’s not, and shouldn’t be, a judgement call on behalf of your local sorting office/postie.

It’s your choice to read junk mail or throw it straight in the bin, therefore avoiding any upset. It’s not your postie’s choice.

Report
Baconisgoodformeee · 28/04/2020 20:52

OP sorry but you’re talking rubbish. Royal Mail are also not allowed to deliver bombs and drugs, but a magazine which says something you disagree with is different to illegal images FGS. Ridiculous to blame a delivery company for this

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

So who decides what is “allowed” or not, and by what criteria That’s not a rhetorical question, and you need to answer it if you’re going to start a thread wanting the RM castigates for doing their job.

The quickest way for conspiracy theorists and nutcases to “prove” there really is a conspiracy is if the “powers that be” try to stop them.
