What do mumsnetters think the Government should do to stop panic buying and hoarding?

Make it clear what lockdown will look like (if they ever announce it). Cast iron clear not BJ "er if you don't mind we may er ask you to go out for food. Twice a day - er I mean once, sorry"

So, you will still be able to go to the supermarket and buy groceries. These will be rationed.

BUT it's about trust. We have been consistently told there is enough food yet some people are starving (due to panic buying).

It's a postcode lottery. I live near 2 Tescos in the news for obscene queues and bare shelves. SIL lives in an affluent part of Bristol and can get eggs, flour, milk - the basics for goodness sake - in addition to everything else at any part of the day with no queues.

The issues are of trust and clear communications. Sorry, but PM is lacking those things.
However, the public are behaving insanely, yet there are so many genuine cases of need.

I'm more scared about hunger than the virus to be honest.

Also, I watched a report from Belgium I think where shoppers still can't get pasta or flour.
Is there a guarantee we.can at least get staples to make our own bread and pasta?

Some form of rationing.

It's not enough to tell people not to panic buy. They aren't listening. People are going to starve due to others stockpiling.
