Are workers who are not listed as essential still expected to work?

Just that really, I am seeing a lot of questions about why people are still expected to work who are not specifically listed but surely some of those job are still essential? I honestly thought it was strictly to identify school places?

I work in a sector that provides support, sometimes in emergency situations, to quite a few of those on the list. Without this support it would cause quite a few problems and in some cases would mean they are severely disrupted or closed.

Schools are remaining open to ensure those that are essential for us getting through this crisis can go to work. That doesn’t mean other people don’t have to work.
Myself and my husband are sharing childcare so both of us can work (weird hours but we’re still working). Unless your place of work is closed down, childcare precludes you from working or you’re classed as vulnerable then you should be working.

I was hoping as much. It just seems that some are now using this as an excuse. People need to get a grip, I have even seen posters openly admitting they ‘don’t have much work on a day to day basis’ before this all kicked off. I’m not sure I would be bragging about that given what our economy will look like when this starts to clear up.

Of course I am still expected to work, I may not be able to do the main part of my job (seeing people) but I still have to work.

Yes people are still expected to work. This crisis has really shown how lazy people are, in particular the ones who claim they are 'too scared' to go to work but still happy to go about their normal routines such as gyms etc. otherwise.
